Would you call?

So as most of you regulars know, my baby has flipped from head down to breech and back to head down, all within 36-38 weeks. As of this past week's appointment (39 weeks) she was still head down. For the first time in weeks, I am feeling hiccups up higher than usual again. This was what lead me to mention I thought she was breech in the first place and I was right. They aren't AS high as before, but they are like halfway between my belly button and under my boobs and off to the side. Would you call the office and mention it to them (my due date is Saturday)? Or just wait until your next appointment (which is on Tuesday morning and I will be 40 weeks 3 days)? When she flipped to breech the last time, they scheduled me for a c-section (that was then cancelled because she flipped back).

Re: Would you call?

  • If I was you I'd just put my mind at ease & just call & tell them what you are feeling...they may say don't worry about it & see you next week if not sooner... or they might tell you to come on in & find out for sure...but its definitely better be safe than sorry! I'd be concerned that your right & if something happened you don't wanna be told "Why didn't you call??"

  • This constant flipping is making me dizzy!  What would they do now if your baby did flip breech again?  Schedule another c?  (That they might back out of again if she flips back!?  Ugh, that would irritate me!)  I always give the advice to call if your concerned about anything but for this, I would wait until my appt because she moves so much, maybe she'll be back by then.

This, too. I feel his hiccups all over. Sides, low, high, middle, even in my bum and cervix sometimes.

Right, that's what a lot of people told me the last time I felt the hiccups up very high and it did relax my mind a little bit... but when I mentioned it to the MW (not even as an issue, but more of like an "in passing" comment), she said felt for the baby, couldn't tell if she was head up or down, and they made me have an ultrasound that showed she was breech <scream>! I don't know. Like I said, these aren't as high as the last time... but since she's gone back to head down, I've felt them all low again. UGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH. I am at my wit's end LOL. I wouldn't even be questioning if I should call had she not already flipped twice.

They like to try to avoid emergency c-sections if possible so I presume they'd, once again, schedule me for a c-section... and then if she flipped again, I think they would once again cancel it. I can't stand this anymore. I think I'm driving myself crazy and I will just wait it out. They said when they cancelled the last time that they will check when I go into labor if she is still head down! And I have an appointment Tuesday so I think I'll just take my chances!!!

OK, that's good to know - that it's not an all or nothing kind of thing.

  • Noooo not again, I really hope shes still heads down. I wouldnt call just because what if they schedule you another c when clearly shes a gymnast and would probably flip back again by delivery.

She sure likes to mess with you doesn't she.

Yes! It could just be my mind messing with me and I'm just skeptical because of the last time. My husband encouraged me not to call because of the whole ordeal last time (i.e. if I never mentioned anything, we would have been none the wiser that she flipped twice since she ended up back head down). He also said that they probably would not schedule me for a c-section before Tuesday anyway at this point in the week so I could mention it at my appointment on Tuesday morning at 8AM, anyway. I guess he's right. I worry that she isn't OK (we can all relate) and now, once again, am questioning every movement, but... if they were that concerned, I guess they would have scheduled me for another ultrasound this week and they never did.

When my baby went breech she stayed that way until the scheduled c/s.  They did an u/s before to make sure she had not flipped but they would have induced me had she flipped back.  She didn't want me to go over 39 wks.  If they haven't mentioned inducing or if that isn't something you want then maybe wait...but since it is a holiday weekend you may want piece of mind.
