Baby Jogger 2011 City Mini Double Stroller, anyone?

I was wondering if anyone had this, and if so, what your thoughts were on it?

I've been thinking about getting one.  Thanks so much!

Re: Baby Jogger 2011 City Mini Double Stroller, anyone?

  • Several of my friends have this...and they love it!  It's very versatile, holds up very well, and has a great easy fold.  The only real complaint is the basket access is not good and that the handlebar can be a bit high for shorter people.  But otherwise it's a great stroller.

I ended up going with the new City Mini GT Double.  I just liked the tires more (they are forever air tires and definitely can go onto all terrains), the adjustable handlebar (my DH and I are 1 foot apart in height), and the slightly thicker material and padding (and also slightly bigger seat capacity).  I also liked the handbrake.  They also made the basket access better by creating more of a U bar instead of straight across but to be honest I still don't think it made a huge difference in the doubles version--the singles version benefited more from that redesign.

You can't go wrong honestly.  Good luck with your decision!

I love my mini single, but got the elite double because I really wanted the bigger tires (we take lots of long walks) plus it has some other extra features (hand brake, adjustable handle). But, it can't really be an indoor stroller which the mini double can.
  • I got the City Mini GT 2012 for the same reason the pp got the Elite.  Handbrake, bigger tires, etc.  But it can be an indoor stroller and still fits in the trunk of my Honda Civic.

I researched for months trying to decide between the GT and the 2011 double, or waiting for the 2012.  I really wanted the 2012, but I can't wait till September.  My decision came down to three things - the size of the basket, the bigger tires, and the most important, the size of my kid.

My first kid is enormous for his age.  Not fat, just off the charts in height.  He was going to outgrow the height for the City Mini (44 inches) in a year, and I want him to ride a lot longer than that.  He loves his stroller so I don't forsee it being a problem getting him to keep riding.  The GT goes to 46", which will buy me another year most likely.  That was the decision maker for me.  Other than buying a true jogging stroller, which would have been big and bulky and wouldn't fit in my trunk, the GT was the best choice for tall kids of the strollers that I liked.

The 2011 basket isn't really usable in my opinion.  I use my basket a lot, but decided I could live without it.  Other than that, I love the City Mini 2011.  I have a City Mini Single that I absolutely love and wouldn't change a thing about.
