Someone remind me please that Sleep begets Sleep

Because my head knows thats true. It does. But DS missed his afternoon nap and fell asleep at 530, and is still asleep (its 7 here.) And normally Id be giving him a bath and laying him down to sleep between now and 8, and I'm really scared I'm in for a long night/early morning and my not sane, new mom brain wants to wake him lol

  • If DS is thrown off and sleepinbright ough hiis usual bedtime we wake him. I know you're "not supposed to," but itworks for us. We usually do a shorter bath and he tends to fall right back asleep after his bottle .

So you wake him but let him go right back to bed after the routine? Do you notice if he sleeps less from the long nap? :(

  • Woah, sorry for the crazy typos, stupid iPad!

He usually STTN from7-8pm til 5-6am and we don't notice a difference if we have to wake him for his bedtime routine. We usually give him til 6:30 to wake up on his own then wake him.  It happens at least once a week lately and he falls right back into his  routine after we wake him..

It does! Every time C naps late in the day I'm worried that he won't sleep. Yet every time it happens, he sleeps just as long IF not longer than when he doesn't nap. You'll be fiiiiiiiiiine! Smile

  • Last night Eli went to bed at 830 due to not napping during the day - the norm is 1030-11 and he actually slept in later this morning than usual. I wouldn't' wake him this late in the evening.

THIS! I always get freaked too when DS takes a really late nap but it never causes him to wake early or not sleep well. If anything he just has a little bit later of a bedtime but it all works out in the end.
