I just read the majority of the posts from yesterday concerning sin in all its percieved forms. After years of studying various religions this is what I have learned. If we are to take a literalists perspective on every matter which is supported or banned by the bible the following would be true.
1. Anyone who rounds off their hair cuts which means any bobs or cuts sans jagged edges is a sinner punishable by God (Leviticus 19:27 if you want to check on me)
2. If you so much as touch bacon or watch football (played with pigskin) you are a sinner (leviticus 11:8)
3. Ever open a fortune cookie? Read your horoscope? You evil, evil bitches are gonna burn (Leviticus 20:6)
4.That whole emancipation proclamation/ Civil War thing is actually against God because slavery is completely cool as long as you follow the guidlines for what to feed your slaves, cloth them and marry them to each other....(so says Exodus chapter 21)
5. Your dad being short on cash totally could have sold you as a maidservant, that would be fine (Exodus 21:7)
6. Your husbands are allowed to cheat on you and have multiple wives, as long as you still get fed...you ladies would be cool with that right? (21:10)
7.Ever waer clothes that have a "blend" of materials? Straight to the fire pit with you (Leviticus 19:19)
8. You have a tattoo or peircing? Well those are forever like a diamond so no forgiveness for you! (Leviticus 19:28)
9. Like lobster? Crabs? Only if you like fire and brimstone (Leviticus 11:10)
10. You wear make up? Jewelry? Yes, even your wedding band. Thats a sin too (Timothy 2:9)
Yet again, let me make it clear what my point is. If we are going to take what a religious text says LITERALLY than you cannot pick and chose which doctrines to follow. If you are going to spew laws which God himself mandated then you really have to follow them all, not just whatever is convenient to your argument at the moment. That is all

Dude, I needed a serious 2 shots of Patron after reading all those posts yesterday (I didn't, don't worry...but that GD'd Margarita WILL be happening the week LO gets here). Holy debates. Literally. I was really hoping Chibi would have just bust out with a freaking giff war right in the middle of everything just to stoke the fire and bring on the hilarity. But it didn't happen. Damnit.
Yay, as PP stated, I'm totally hosed. I think I basically just live my life in constant sin...apparantly. Hopefully some devine entity will have mercy on my pathetic little soul. At this rate, I'm just diving straight into hell, with my hair on fire, my fists pumping and a "WOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOO B$%CHES!!!!" and my background music will be something from AC/DC, Metallica, or Marilyn Mason.

Aside from Timothy, the other books you mentioned are from the Old Testament. Following yesterday's discussion, most of the ladies were Baptist, and I believe that it is a Baptist belief that with the first coming of Christ, the sins of man were forgiven (and thus people do not need to follow the same rituals that were followed in the old testament). Therefore, if someone is to commit one of the sins you have listed, I believe that those are no longer considered as sin after the coming of Christ.
