Pregnant after 35

So I failed the 1-hr :-(

I had a feeling this was going to happen.  I know we're all probably weary of these posts, but cripes, when it happens to you, you really do feel like crap. And DH is out of town, but I'm going out of town next Tuesday for 5 days and so neede to do the 3-hr before DH is back on Friday night, because of course everything is closed on Monday. If I fail the 3-hr, I won't get all set up with a diabetic counselor etc until I'm back in town, but at least I'll know and can start regimenting for real.

Sigh...I just have a feeling I am going to fail; when I took the 1-hr at 14 weeks, it came back at 114 (cut off 140); today, it came back at 177. So something has clearly changed, thus what are the chances that I'll pass the 3-hr anyway?

I am really not looking forward to doing this on my own. But: whine over now.

I failed the 1 hr with 165 and passed the 3 with awesome numbers. My fasting was 85, and my 3 hour draw was 102. I think I read 75% of women who fail the 1hr will pass the 3hr. I'll warn you, the 3hr made me feel like crap. I was so sick. After, I ate a huge amount of protein and crashed hard! I slept for about 3 hours.

Thanks, that makes me feel better.  Though it would make me feel even better if I hadn't already passed the 1-hr once, only to fail it now -- that gives me a bad feeling. And yeah, I am v. worried about the sick thing. I am going to boil eggs tonite to take with me....along with granola bars. I hope I'll be able to get
myself home, but if not I've got a friend I can call.

Good luck over the next few days, by the way!

Good Luck.  I passed the 3 hour, but my numbers were in the high range of normal.  So, they still said to cut my carbs.

I didn't have any problem getting home after the test and eating lunch, it was after my 2 hour nap that I felt horrible for the next couple of days.  I hope you don't feel as bad as I did.

Honestly, they have to find a better way of doing this test! Pregnant women deal with enough, they shouldn't be made to feel sick too!

Ugh.... I'm sorry you have to do the three hour. The 1hr is bad enough! Maybe you were just having an "off" day if you had good results before? Good luck on Friday!
