FTM, how long did you have contractions before...

...you got to 5 min apart lasting for 1 hour?

Re: FTM, how long did you have contractions before...

  • This is a rough estimate, but I'd say nearly 14 hours.  I had a loooooong labour, though.

  • 4 or 5 hours. Although I was closer to 3-1-1 when I finally called my doctor.

  • About an hour. I had a freakishly fast labor though. If I'd waited for them to last for an hour, I'm pretty sure I would have delivered in the car.

  • With DS1, I have no idea... My water broke at 8:30 AM... the hospital wouldn't let me wait to start contracting on my own and started me on pit at 1:30 PM.  He was born at 3:16 AM.

This time, I've been having pretty regular contractions for a couple days.  Every 10-12 mins yesterday... some of today they were as close as every 6 mins... but still nothing that made me say "Yep... this is officially labor!"  I'm just extra tired from being up every 40 mins or so last night when I'd have a contraction AND a full bladder so I needed to pee all the dang time.

  • My first I started contracting around 8pm they weren't 5-1-1 until about 1 am and ds was born at 1pm the next day. This time my third contractions started at 4am and were about 10-45 sec all day until about 4pm then were 5-1-1 and ds was born at 7:52 after 30 minutes at the hospital.

  • First started feeling contractions at 11pm. Probably at 10pm the next day they were finally 5-1-1. The contractions were pretty easy to handle up until that point too. Little guy was born at 4am.
  • 42 hours! I had a ridiculously long labor with DS #1.  From the 1st contraction to birth was 56 hours.  I don't wish anyone that kind of torture.
  • For both my pregnancies, they were 5 mins apart from the start. (With this one I had two that were ten mins apart) This made it very hard to decide when to go the hospital! I think you need to look at how you are feeling more than anything. If you are in a lot of discomfort and things are feeling really intense, that is a sign that things are getting close.

  • At least 24 hours. I was given a sleeping pill after getting sent home a second time to help me get some rest. I was still at 7+min, and I'd been laboring for almost a full day. I woke up a few hours later, and they were closer together. She was born a few hours after that.

  • i first felt mine at 6am and didnt get to 5min apart til about 5pm then i progressed super fast and my little guy was here at 11pm :)
  • Less than an hour. They went to every 2 1/2-3 minutes apart lasting about a minute after about an hour and a half.
