Lil' Joeys

Hi all! We are cd'ing from newborn stage on.. and I've recently purchased a ton of lil' joeys among other styles of nb AIO's. Last night I was at my birthing class and we were discussing the CD route and I mentioned we had a few of them and another FTM was talking about how they were terrible and they leaked and I should have gone with prefolds.

I guess I'm just asking before I wash these little guys-- are they even worth it? Shoudl I return them now and go with prefolds? I'll admit I'm a little intimidated by the prefolds..

We had major leak issues with Lil Joeys. I honestly wish I wouldn't have spent as much money as I did on my NB stash and started with prefolds since that is what I ended up using. I was super intimidated by prefolds in the beginning too, but they are really not hard.

My favorite NB diaper was/is TotBots TiniFit. My DD is still fitting into them and my DC lady won't use anything but these.

I had leaks with Lil Joeys, too. Prefolds ended up being my favorite NB diaper. I had some BG and Grovia NB dipes, too, but I don't recall those being anything special. 2 dozen GMD newborn prefolds, 2 thirsties and 2 bummis covers were my go-to NB stash.

DD grew out of them by 5 weeks. Admittedly, we didn't start using our CDs until she was 4 weeks old. But even by then the absorbency of the Lil' Joeys wasn't enough for her and she'd leak every time, even after only maybe 15 or 20 minutes. They were super cute, but just didn't work for us.

I never tried them but they're sooooo tiny. DD would have never fit! I have some newborn diapers she never even wore because she was almost 10 pounds.

I had the best luck with KL0s and prefolds to be honest. And some random hybrids from the UK called Smart Nappies. I loved those things.

Thanks guys-- with your help I think I'll hang on to them, but go ahead and buy prefolds as well. Never know what I'll need I guess, right?!

Maybe wash a few and see how you like them? We used prefolds and covers, but to be honest, I didn't love it! It was cheap, though.

I never CD'ed during the newborn phase, but my friend did and used prefolds and LJ's in the beginning. She had the odd leak with the LJ's, but overall she really liked them.

My Lil Joeys SEEM to fit my DD great (she was 5lbs 11oz at one point), but they leak out the leg holes every single time. In fact, ALL of my NB AIOs leak every time. If I didn't have my PFs, I'd have no diapers. I didn't think I'd like the PFs, but they don't leak ever, and you can't beat that!

I haven't had leak problems with my LilJoeys any more than the BG NBs or Kissaluvs that I use. BUT, they are TINY. Which was awesome for us with our 6 lb. twins, but now that the girls are approaching 10 lbs, they're basically unusable.

This was my NB stash too. I had a few Snappis but ended up just trifolding into the cover, so easy.

We had leaks after DD was 2 weeks old with Lil' Joeys. I thought I'd hate the prefolds and didn't try them until around that time, but I wish I'd started immediately! I loved prefolds. GMD Workhorses were great too.

FTM here...I was at a local CD store today and there was a mom in there looking for diapers. Her daughter was 2 weeks old and already over 10 lbs. her entire newborn rah was lil' joeys and both he and her husband loved them!

I used a couple and they leaked almost every time. Very cute though. On the other hand, I loved the Rumparooz Newborn Diaper Covers (same cute prints as lil joeys) and we're still getting mileage out of them at 5 months!

They worked awesome for my 5 lb 13 oz baby! We never had a leak and used them for four weeks. She did grow out of them quickly though.

We didn't have leak issues with the lil joeys but we did have issues with EBF poop washing out. We had to install our sprayer and even then they frequently needed to be scrubbed. Plus they took forever to dry. I definitely preferred newborn size prefolds and covers. With how often we changed DS, that was our best route. My favorite NB sized all in one was the XS BumGenius! GL!
