sleep issues at 18 wks?

I'm usually a stomach sleeper but obviously i havent been able to do that for a while and anytime i end up on my back my toes fall asleep (i dont go on my back intentionally; it just happens) but when im on my side my arms fall asleep and my belly gets very sore.  I dont feel like im that big yet, but i feel my belly so much at night.  Anyone have any sleep suggestions?  I thought this was supposed to be the "honeymoon" stage... is the relatively comfy stage of pg shorter with twins?

Re: sleep issues at 18 wks?

  • I use a body pillow and it helps me stay on my side.  It will also help later when my hips start getting sore.

  • UNISOM!  It was my best friend and my OB showed me the studies they had done on it showing that it posed no issues for the babies.
  • Both of the pp had good suggestions. I used a body pillow and several regular pillows to prop different areas - between my knees, under my belly, etc. It takes work to get comfy and I'd usually have to wake and readjust several times, but any good sleep is worth it. And Unisom was something my doc suggested for morning sickness, so I used it when I needed some extra help.
  • I use a bunch of pillows to get comfy.  I put one between my knees and one kind of under my belly that I can wrap my arms around.  I sleep well until about 4am and then my hips start aching and I have to switch sides like every half hour.  I'm feeling like this past week I've been having more aches and pains.  My OB said with twins your uterus is usually about 6 weeks ahead of how many weeks you actually are, so you do start feeling uncomfortable sooner. I have not tried unisom yet but it is good to know that is an option!
