Is your LO's room a mess?

I try to keep our house pretty neat (although I'm just finishing 1st tri so I've been pretty tired lately and slacking a bit)  A's room is just always a mess!  She's in there for 5 minutes and it looks like a tornado went through it. Most of her toys are in her room - eventually we will make the basement a playroom when she's older.

I try to clean it at night before bed, but as soon as I put something away, she's pulling out something else!  Haha oh well.

Is your LO's room always a disaster?

Re: Is your LO's room a mess?

  • It's generally OK, but right now it's a mess because I've pulled out all of the old clothes and I have nowhere to go with them since I keep forgetting to buy new totes.  So, for now there's old clothes in baskets all over.  That kid had A LOT of 6 and 9 month clothes apparently!

ETA: Most of his toys are in the living room, or "hidden" in the foyer closet to switch out toys sporadically.

  • Not really, but she's like never in there.  We keep all the toys in the living room.  She has one bin with books and a couple toys in case I need to sit her on the floor in there to get something done.
  • No, her room is pretty neat because she's really only in there for diaper changes and sleep.  All her toys are in the living room, so that's where the gigantic mess is.

  • No, her room isn't, but I have tons of clothes in a laundry basket in her closet (shame)

this is us. i actually find that having his toys in the TV room helps me clean them up more often.

  • Oh boy I guess I am a slacker then! Maybe I should set up a playroom for her downstairs sooner!

  • DS's was until yesterday. All of his toys are in the living room and we don't change him on his changing table anymore so his room just slowly started to become storage since he was only in there at nap/bed time. But, it was driving me crazy so I gave it s good deep cleaning yesterday while my mom came over to play with DS. Now I plan on putting one of his boxes of toys in there so he has another room to play in, and hopefully I can keep it clean! :)

  • Within 5 minutes of having picked everything up and organizing toys DS1 tears it all apart again.  Keeping the boys' shared room neat is a battle.  I swear I need at least 2 more toy boxes though (we only have one...lol).

This is me too and its been like this for months.  I think I am just too sad to get rid of the clothes since we're done with kids...I guess part of me secretly wishes we could have one more (secretly from my DH because he would have a heart attack if I ever told him).  My SIL got rid of all of her stuff at 2 and ended up having 3.  Had to buy all new stuff, use my clothes (from DD#1) which came back a disgrace BTW.  Her younger 2 are only 3 years apart.  She's such a dip.  It wasn't an accident either because she had a miscarriage in between.  Anyway - I digress...I guess what I am saying is if, by some stroke of luck, DH were to tell me that he wanted one more, I wouldn't want to be that dip that got rid of all of her stuff.

This is how is is at our house too. DS's room is so small that he doesn't really spend much time there (except for sleep). It's actually the neatest room in our (otherwise pretty messy) house!

  • I can't stand clutter and mess so no. She doesn't play in her room that much, she is mostly in the living room. Each night, after she is in bed, we grab all the toys and throw them in her toy box. When I go to bed, there isn't a toy to be found on our floors! I'm sure it won't always be like this, but for now, it makes me happy :-)

  • DD's room is really organized and neat but she is hardly in her room. Just to sleep and we play in there sometimes. Most of her toys are in the living room and that can get destroyed in minutes. :)

  • Actually N's room is probably the neatest in the house.  There aren't a ton of toys in there - just a small box of them - and a bunch of books.  It's not a big room so I try to keep it in order.  He doesn't spend much play time in there so it doesn't really take a beating.
