Parker Scott has arrived - birth story (pip)

Parker Scott arrived on May 21, 2012 at 1:09 p.m. He weighed 8lbs 5 oz & was 20 3/4 in long.

Birth Story- Went in yesterday morning at 8 a.m. to be induced. Dr checked me and I was 3 cm and 75% effaced (I had been this way since 37 wks) I was then inserted with a gel ( can't remember the name) to bring on contractions and help with dilation. Contractions started within a half hour but were very manageable. Walked the L&D halls twice and then settled into my room to labor. The contractions were coming every 2 to 3 min and started to intensify around 11:30 a.m. At this point asked for the epidural. The anesthesiologist arrived around 12:15 and as I was swinging my legs over the side of the bed to sit up to have the epidural inserted felt a huge pop and the contraction pain exploded, my water had broke. I would say my contractions multiplied in strength by 10. I was almost in tears and still trying to breath through the contractions which now were right on top of each other all the while trying to hold still. At that point I felt tons of pressure. Got the epidural and what a relief. 2 nurses checked me 1 said I was a 6 the other said I was an 8, never did find out as the Dr came in to check 5 min later and determined that I was at a 10 and ready to push. I literally pushed for 5 times counting to 10 and Parker was born. It was all so amazingly fast! My entire labor ended up being 5 hours and I only pushed for 10 min. Other than the pain of my water breaking and those horrible contractions that I had while getting the epidural this induction was a huge success.

We are so in love with our little man and are already home and adjusting to the 5th member of our family. Congrats to all the mama's with outside babies and GL to all the mamas still waiting to deliver their Lo's.
