Eviction Set - Birth Plan Bye Bye

Unless he decides to appear on his own, this guy is being evicted Friday! I'm 4cm, but he's popped out of launch position. So, that makes it unlikely I'll go into la or on my own between now and then. Crossing my fingers he stays put until Friday, because I LOVE the idea of both my kids being born on their due dates...even if this one needs a little push. He'll show up tonight.

I've always wanted a natural birth, however, I am NOT going to be super woman. If I get induced, they're giving me drugs!

Re: Eviction Set - Birth Plan Bye Bye

  • I have a feeling my natural birth plan is going out the window too, my baby won't stay launched either. Ive had to come to terms that the healthy baby at the end result is what really matters.

At least you can say you will only be pregnant two more days!

  • Eviction dates are being set everywhere today!  I love the idea of a natural birth also, but I'm set on getting this baby out at 41 weeks.  PP, you are absolutely right!  A healthy baby is NUMBER ONE!  (Even if it leads to an epi or a c-section.)

  • I'm so sorry things aren't going according to plan, but try not to worry too much!  I had a very successful induction with DD1 (and now DD2's induction is set for Saturday,) and I know they don't all go that way, but sometimes they do, so my advice is to just go with the flow and see how things unfold.  I wanted a natural birth, too, and I labored for 12 hours without an epi, and finally was only 4 cm, so I got the epidural, and it brought me to 10 within 6 hours.  Often if you're already dilated it really does help push things along, and getting a nap in before you have to push can really help ease the baby out.  Wishing you lots of luck!

Thanks! I'm not upset about my birth plan. I told myself from the get go that it was written in pencil, not stone. My only concern right now is that he won't engage when in labor. I've also prepared for a c section, so I'm good!

  • I had frequent (every 10 minutes or closer)  contractions the day before DD was born and at 10:30am that day, I had a dr appt scheduled. Apparently she still wasn't engaged at that point, but was born the next afternoon w/ no c-section and no pitoci... The only inducing they did was to break my water. So don't worry about your lo not being totally set to come out yet. Still very possible to have a vaginal delivery.

  • With any luck I'll be on pit right along with you! I was scheduled for tomorrow (41 weeks) but I has my doctor move it back a day. I am also almost 4cm as of monday and was hoping to avoid it, but my mom had to go into the hospital on Monday afternoon and won't be home until Thursday night--recovery willing. And she's in from out of town to take care of my 3 year old! Now my dad is here too.

As anti induction as I was I'm now keeping my legs tightly crossed and staring longingly at the pineapple in the fridge :)

It sure is crazy how things can change!

  • May I ask why you're concerned Baby wouldn't engage during labor?  It's really common for babies not to be engaged before labor starts and still have a vaginal birth... especially for second or subsequent babies.

Oh, no scientific reason. My whole pregnancy has been nothing but Murphy's law, lol. Why should it change now? At one point, I even debated naming him Murphy!

  • I was just coming on to see where in the world your baby is?! :)

Ok, Alien you need to engage for Mom!!!

But yea...hellz to the no on me ever getting Pitocin without an epi...good call there! Lol
