Nosefrida and The Windi

Anyone used the nosefrida yet? I am wondering if I should get it because LO had a bit of a runny nose today and it seemed like she had a harder time sleeping. When I was checking it out, Amazon suggested that I buy The Windi with it. But that freaks me out more than sucking out snot. A nurse I talked to told me not to use a rectal thermometer because you can damage something - isn't the windi kinda doing the same thing maybe even more? I don't think I could do it.

I LOVE my nosefrida. I can't bring myself to use the windi, for the same reasons you mentioned.

We have a Nosefrida too.  While disgusting, I really do like it.  I can't bring myself to get a windi

ETA:  I don't understand the nurse's comments about a rectal temp.  If you do it correctly, you won't cause damage.  And most doctor's offices require a rectal temp if you call their warm line.  Here is my favorite rectal thermometer- it's impossible to go in too far, and you use a little vaseline to help.

Agree... could never get the airway as clear with just a bulb.

  • I bought both. The nosefrida is a lifesaver. It is amazing. And I love the windi too. DD had horrible gas in the beginning and it was torture to hear her screaming and kicking her legs in pain. The gush of air that comes out of them is sort of crazy. DD would go from screaming to lying there totally calm. It did freak me out at first but now those two things are my go-to presents for baby showers.

I don't know. Maybe they have trouble with stupid people doing it wrong? They told us to use under the armpit.

  • I have both. Haven't really had to use the Nosefrida much, just once really when he spit up and it went up his nose and then he started having trouble getting air in but it worked pretty well. However, we use the Windi quite frequently as DS has major gas and pooping issues. If it didn't cost $3 per use we would probably use it more often. I'm not thrilled to be sticking something up his butt but we are super careful and after hearing him cry for hours because he is in pain it is worth it. His relief is immediate every time. He seems to have trouble relaxing his sphincter to let the gas and poop out so even if he is pushing really hard, red face and all, nothing comes out. Windi goes in, gas and poop comes out, he starts smiling and cooing right away. You do have to have the Windi in while he is pushing for it to work. Just be prepared for the poosplosion!

  • Thank you for posting about this.  My 9 week old has a horrible cold and the bulb thing does not work as well as I would like.  I'm worried about her getting fluid in her lungs, so thank you.  I just ordered it for delivery tomorrow!
