Shelf-Stable WCM?

We are going on a road trip for the holiday weekend, and DD is on WCM.  I've seen shelf-stable chocolate milk at the stores, and I'm wondering if anyone has ever purchased shelf-stable WCM?  I might try BRU, I think I've seen milk boxes there before.

If I can't find it, I'll just bring along a cooler :)

Re: Shelf-Stable WCM?

  • Personally - ICK! We serve the Shelf stable milk at my CDC and I think it tastes nasty (like it is spoiled) and new children have to get adjusted to it but our long-time kiddos drink it just fine. So you might want to let DD try it before it is the only thing you pack for her on a long trip. No idea where to get it though because we order our. Good luck!

  • I was wondering if it was gross.  Maybe I'll just buy some smaller bottles of WCM and use our cooler.  Thanks!

We did the Horizon boxes for DS1 for awhile but he's a pain in the butt and likes his milk cold.    So we put milk in a metal thermos and then the thermos in an insulated lunch box with an ice pack.   Also even when he was on WCM(he's on 1% now since he's 4), if we picked up milk at a drive thru or something like that, if the only option was 1%, I didn't sweat it and just gave him a cup of that.   We had to do that when he was 16 months.   We were on vacation and in an amusement park.   I didn't want to lug his lunch box around the park all day.   However, the little milk jugs sold at the concession stands were 1%.   So he drank that that day.   Not a big deal if once in awhile he could't have whole milk.
