What shampoo do you use?

I have been searching a pretty long time to find something for my insanely frizzy hair.  But I also am really cheap and don't want to pay $10 a bottle.  I've tried Dove, Tresseme, Garnier, and Ion something from Sallys.  Currently I'm using Aussie and it seems like I keep going back to it (and it smells amazing!)

So I'm curious, what do you ladies use?  Anyone also have frizzy hair?

Re: What shampoo do you use?

  • I only wash my hair twice a week so my expensive stuff lasts a long time.  I use Oribe color shampoo and conditioner.  Before that I was using Redken Color Extend.

  • I keep going back to Dove, the shampoo and conditioner.... and deodorant, actually. I like that it's not an overpowering scent, and it's always done the trick with my hair (quite long... not frizzy, but prone to breakage and serious split ends because it's so fine). I agree that Aussie smells awesome though :P

  • I use Kerastase. It's pricey but I love it. Has made a huge difference with my hair.

  • I use two different Aveda shampoos. One for scalp issues and Shampure.
  • My hair can be excessively frizzy.

I use pantene 2 in 1 as well as conditioner.  I also put a conditioning creme on it afterwards.  I do find that if I wash my hair at night and let it air dry as I sleep it doesn't frizz.

ETA:  I also wash my hair every other day and maybe less.

  • I have found that my hair responds best to constantly switching up my shampoo/conditioner.  I only wash every other day, which helps as well.  If I had to choose a favorite, it would probably be B&B, Fekkai or Biolage

Weirdly, I do not like Pantene, which is one I hear recommended by so many people.

I like to switch up my shampoo every so often.  Lately I've been using Pureology.  Before that I used a couple different types of Aveda shampoo.  For less expensive shampoo, I sometimes use John Frieda Brilliant Brunette.

  • My mom's a stylist so I try different things from her. Now I am using one designed for curls called "no poo". (It doesn't suds up) I am not loving the smell though and I don't think my curls are any more defined than with my normal Paul Mitchell

  • I don't have an inexpensive "go to".  I started using Ouidad and I LOVE it!

  • I switch my shampoo up often-

but Biolage is my go to.

Also- if you  have frizzy hair- its not the shampoo that will make a big difference- its a product used afterwards- there are amazing anti frizz serums (clear liquid in a pump)

garnier makes a good one. you just put a little on with wet hair and care for it as normal

  • I switch it up depending on what I have coupons for. Right now it is Pantene Frizzy to Smooth since I got it free. I like it. If I don't have coupons, I get Suave Professionals moisturizing.

  • My hair is very wavy/culy (depending on the weather). It is so frizzy because its wavy/curly. I use "Suave Captivating Curls", it works so great and it also helps my hair curl more - I notice the difference if I use a different shampoo and conditioner.

I love it and it works amazing, for me.

  • I splurge on hair products, because if I don't my curly hair looks awful.

What type of hair do you have?  Aveeno isn't bad; I use it when we go out of town because I don't want my Pureology exploding all over my suitcase.  Smile

  • Just want to point something out :) A good, albeit expensive, shampoo will last you a lot longer than drugstore shampoo. Especially if you buy something w/ low or no sulfates. Sulfates dry your hair out and make your scalp produce more oils, then you have to wash more often. Also, you have to use more with most drugstore shampoos than you would w/ "better" ones.

I use Pureology and have for years now. It costs $50/bottle, which I usually get w/ 20% off coupons at ulta or wherever as often as possible. The bottle lasts me an entire year. It might still be more expensive than buying $2-6 shampoos every month or so, but it has made an incredible difference in my hair and is well worth it to me.

I can usually go 3 days w/out washing my hair when I'm using low/no sulfate shampoo. I recently switched to regular Tresemee (long story short we have a leak in our shower so I've been showing in the basement and am too lazy to bring down my nice shampoo ;). I went from having nice hair, to greasy hair by the end of the day..and kinky hair by morning so that I have to wash it daily. I hate it. I need to bring my nice shampoo/cond. set down!

ETA: obviously it depends on your hair type and if you color, etc. etc.... This is just what I've found for me. I know my friend who bleaches her hair washes it just once a week and she uses some shampoo made for blonde hair that has a TON of silicone (I think, whatever the smoothing stuff is) in it and it works great for her. On my hair, it would weigh it down like crazy because of the build-up that stuff leaves.

Admitting what I often don't: I don't use shampoo. I do baking soda to scrub my scalp and rinse w/ apple cider vinegar. I sometimes use conditioner. I only need to washing 1-2 times a week, I can get away w/ rinsing it an extra time if I'm really sweaty or something.

It's cheap. It's environmentally friendly towards the earth and towards my head/hair. It's better for my hair, it's not frizzy very often at all.
