Need to vent before I throat punch DH

DH asks me what's for supper and my response was "I don't know, what do you want, I'm not hungry so I probably won't eat with you". He proceeds to ask me what we have and I list off some leftovers because we were out of the house today and nothing is thawed and tbh I don't feel like cooking anything. His response? "Wow, I didn't get a housewife when I married you, did I?" For real? Sorry I am tired, swollen, and don't feel like standing over a hot stove during peak hot flash time to make you a meal then eat cheerios by myself in 2 hours.
The man never cleans, never does laundry, never makes the bed and maybe helps me cook 1 night a week IF I am lucky. How does he think these things get done? I'd say I'm a damn good housewife and just because I don't want to make you steak and stuffed mushrooms right now DOESN'T CHANGE THAT!
Alright, hormonal vent over, I can go back to loving his lazy ass now. Just needed to let that out.

  • Ugh, frustrating!  I would have punched him already.

  • :-(  I don't even know what to say.  Most DH's can be jerkwads at times, but he sounds like a rude, sexist bastard.  I'm admittedly, a horrible housewife... He does more cleaning than I do, really... but still... I think I'd find a new use for the heaviest frying pan if my husband said that to me when presented with several viable options for dinner at 39 weeks pregnant.

  • He better make a LOT of money! Lol! My husband is an ass too...they just don't get it.  And in my opinion, the are just naturally really freaking stupid!

  • He says he was joking and he usually makes jokes like that telling me to go make him a sandwich and such. I usually roll my eyes at his stupid jokes, it's just not a good joke when I feel like a beached whale in this heat and he's perfectly capable. Plus it was said as I was cleaning our kitchen that looks like a tornado went through it. Not cool.

Yes, this is also a factor here.

  • My husband has been saying "good job" lately...I'm going to freaking kill him! Like I need a freaking pat on the back after folding his boxers!

  • Darling that is not a hormonal vent, that is a well deserved vent. I would have drop kicked my husband on a good day for saying that. Luckily he is a big cook and helper around the house.
  • Yes, I agree with PP, this is not a hormonal vent. Your hubby sounds like a self-centered d-bag. When I married my hubby, he knew I wasn't a typical girly-girl wifey type and I admitted that I hate doing dishes. No surprises here. He hates cleaning the bathroom, I don't mind. There's our compromise: I accept that he doesn't clean the bathroom, he accepts that I don't do dishes (one would think that I'd have a dishwasher by now).

Too funny! DH complained about something about supper last night, and I told him he could cook tomorrow. This was after he took a nap while I made supper, fed DD, and chased her around while cooking...

  • That is VERY frustrating! My husband and I both work and he actually does the bulk of our cooking as well as a lot of the cleaning! You can be a "housewife" and still offer someone leftovers lol... he could have had cereal, too! I think you should throat punch him just for the fun of it :-)

That was why I said stupidity was also a factor here. We both work so I am not just a housewife, I work just as much as he does; actually more-so lately because he is on leave from work and I am still working. This morning he put in the baby seat and suprised me by bringing me out to the car to see it and there was a rose in it, so he knew (probably by the "say what!?" look on my face when he said it) it was not appropriate to say to me. People just never seem to think about what they say before they speak and it's worse when they talk to pregnant women. I just didn't need that comment from HIM whether he thought it was humorous or not. Needless to say between the heat, bloat, backpain, and lack of sleep my sense of humor isn't what it was a few months ago.

  • You should have responded with Fried Testicles over a nice helping of Kiss my A$$ rice. My husband says stupid stuff all the time I sometimes have to remind him that I do know how to neuter someone. This is our 4th and he asked me to pick something up this morning. I didn't even say anything the look was enough.
