Well, I survived!

The whole procedure went well, but getting an IV in for the anesthesia was HORRIFIC.

It took half an hour, I have two blown out veins in my right hand (on in my left still from some BW last week) this results in grape sized welts and bruising under my skin. Then they went for the wrist, after digging for a while, still couldn't get it. At this point I am crying because I am so angry that it just wont work, it hurts really bad and uhhhh hello I have massive amounts of hormones in my body! Nurse gave up and made the anesthesiologist do it, after they made me take a Valium. He got it in my forearm then got angry at me when I still had tears running down my face. BOO.

Also I was covered in those warm blankets, most people would really love those, not this sweaty lady! between nervousness and the blankets it prob looked like I was running a marathon, I am so gross. 

I was out cold in like 4 seconds after laying down on the procedure bed tho, so that was nice.

They told me they got 5 eggs, I'm really really hoping that means they got 5 mature eggs and not just 5 total, since some may not be mature then. As of monday I had 7 that were 17mm+ so I'm going to go with 5 mature. Fert report comes tomorrow. I am so nervous/excited for it!!!

    Sorry the IV process was so difficult, but glad to hear that you're home.  Rest up and I'll keep my fx for an awesome fert report!

    Sorry the IV wouldn't go in you!  I don't understand why he got mad at you for crying, but I hope for the best for you!!!!

    Sorry you didn't have a great experience. Good luck with your fert report!

    Me either, he was a grumpy older man, I think that is why. He said "the IV is in now, stop crying its over". I wasn't like sobbing or anything, I just couldn't make the tears stop streaming!

    I'm so sorry you had such a bad experience getting the IV.  Fx for a great fert report!

    awww you poor thing i just want to hug you! i get bruises too....they had to try my hands and had no luck so they settled on the forearm for me too.  at least you got through it and the ER went well!

    Man, that IV process sounds awful - I'm sorry!  I'll be sending my positive vibes to those 5 eggs.
    Married 8/2008. IVF with PGD March 2013.
    3/22 ER: 25R, 20M, 15F. 9 genetically normal, and 3 survived to Day 5
    3/27 ET: transferred 1 embryo, beta 9dp5dt=163, 12dp5dt=639
    4/25 1st ultrasound at 7 weeks = identical twins with heartbeats?!!!
    PPROM at 31w, delivery at 32 weeks of two beautiful girls

    Ouch - so sorry you has a rough time with the IV.  What an a-hole anesthesiologist for getting mad at you. But yay for 5 eggs!

    For my ER, took them 3 tries to get a good vein. I was not a happy camper either. And those pokes hurt afterwards more than the good vein they got.

    Aw, I'm SO sorry you went through that :( I had a similar IV experience at one of my d&c's they had two anesthesiologists and two nurses try. Finally the Dr. got it in (my hand after both arms were toast) they told me I was super dehydrated so once they did get the IV in, they had to give me fluids. So not being able to eat/drink for many hours took it's toll on me, wondering if you had a similar problem? 
    Either way, sorry you went through that and he got mad at you. Yikes! Not a great experience for you at all. Rest up and GL with your Fert Report!
