Do contractions feel like this?

I've had some period-like cramping and shooting pain/cramping very low along with some pain in my lower back that feels sort of like when you get the wind knocked out of you. I'm not getting my hopes up that this is the real thing, trust me. I didn't labor at all with DD1, so I'm just curious!

    All I can say is that when it starts for real you won't have any doubt! I questioned it many times and even at pit for 24 hours and some contractions with that but didn't start labor for another week and when it started there was no doubt what was going on...but maybe its getting close for you!!

    I don't always buy the "you'll know when it's time" stuff. I know quite a few friends lately who've had their 2nd & 3rd kids who have literally had NO warning and a couple even delivered at home because it happened that fast. One was just having some minor BHs, woke up in the middle of the night to pee and her water broke and she had her son on her bed minutes later. Others have had just annoying BHs only to find out they've dilated to 6-7 with NO idea. Granted those are crazy and rare scenarios but if you think something might be going on, it never hurts to get checked out!
