WWYD

We have had childcare planned last weekend and this weekend to paint. Our house it torn apart. Last weekend fell through, and I just got a text that this weekend has now as well. We dont have a back up for this weekend either.

I have not wanted Avery in the house while painting, but would it be wrong to put him in the jumper, so we can get the wall our bed is on painted and get the room back together? We would be using a low/no VOC paint and would keep things as ventilated as possible.

Or am I being selfish because I cant stand my house being messy any longer and should just wait until we can do it when he wont be there...

Re: WWYD

  • As long as it's a low/no VOC paint such as Behr's I would paint it with him there. I would also just make sure there is a fan/window open to help with the little fumes there may be.

  • What is the weather going to be like this weekend?  Can either you or your DH take Avery outside while the other paints?  I think he would be fine in the jumper, too, but don't know how long you would be able to paint with him just in the jumper.  If he were outside, you may have more luck.

  • Hmmm that's a tough one. I have avoided painting with LO in the house and we use a low VOC too. Maybe you can take LO out for the day and let your H paint it? If not I would think If he's in a completely different part of the house with windows open that it wouldn't bother him.
  • It is going to be in the 90's I was thinking if we did it early, we could paint with the windows open, fan on, and the bathroom fan on as well. The one wall would only take about an hour to do. DH can do everything but the edging, so I would do that and then leave with Avery. Leaving DH to edge would be a disaster.

  • SInce you're using lo/no VOC paint I'd think you'd be OK to paint with him there as long as it's ventilated.  Plus, just do the trim and then leave your DH to do the rest and take Avery out for a little bit, go on a walk or whatever.
  • I'd do it, but I think that's an UO
