I caved....gas or growth spurt

I am very pro LO only sleeping in his crib or PNP, but I caved last night. I'm not sure if it's the six week growth spurt or something I ate that made him extremely gassy and fussy, but finally after getting him to sleep at 10:30 then having him up from 2-3:30 and up again at 5, I caved at 6:45. He finally fell back asleep and his grunts and fusses turned into screams in his sleep. He spent the last hour and a half sleeping peacefully, while farting like crazy, all snuggled up on my chest. I'm not sure if it's gas or a growth spurt, because he is also eating more, but I hope tonight is better because I have to go back to work for one day tomorrow.

Sometimes I let my LO sleep on my chest too after the crib, pack n play, & swing fail as nap locations.  I feel like maybe he just needs to be held at that time and I'm okay with that.  Someday he'll be too big or too old to nap with mommy so I'm okay enjoying it now :)
Blessed to be married to my best friend & so in love with our little man!!

sounds like my night. she ate a lot more yesterday and wouldnt sleep, then she was fussy last night and didnt want me to let go of her. we slept on the couch. she's been fussy a few days and sleeping a lot today, so my guess is growth spurt. I have to go for 1 day of work on friday and bring her along, so i hope shes back to normal by then!

  • Sounds like DD last night too. We caved and brought her into bed with us at 3? (I think, I can't remember) and she slept until nearly 6. The last time she ate before then was around 1. But from 1:30-2:30 she was up and fussing the entire time.

We already give gas drops, but for whatever reason she couldn't sleep last night. She was fine sleeping with us though. I barely slept, however!

This makes me jealous of what your nights must typically be like. It always takes FOREVER to get J to sleep/back to sleep, and 10:30-2 would be a pretty nice stretch over here. ugh
  • After 4am I usually bring L into bed and let her sleep on me. This morning she slept from 5-8:45 on me. She wakes up too much during this time so I found that this hour in particular she sleeps better on me. She still fusses and moves a lot so I can sooth her easier if she's on me.

I'm sorry. Our typical good night, which happen more often than not, are him in bed between 7:30-8:30 with one wake up between 1-2 and right back to bed and another wake up between 3-4 and right back to bed until 6:30 or 7. Hopefully she gives you some good stretches of sleep coming up.

Thanks! I hope your little guy gets past his growth spurt and/or gassiness quickly.
