Switching from Name Brand to Store Brand

Have any of you ever done this and had it cause constipation in your lo? I switched from Similac Sensitive to Targets Brand of the same thing and he has gotten constipated. Im not sure if thats the cause so I was just wondering if it has happened to anyone else.

Re: Switching from Name Brand to Store Brand

  • I haven't done this but considered switching from enfamil to target's version. We didn't because there is soy in the Target version. I guess it's filler and I don't know how much is in it or whether the similac version of target's brand has that too. But if it does, maybe that's the problem?

  • same thing happened with my 2 year old. it was alnost two years ago so they could have changed the formula since then but as soon as we switched back to the similac sensitive she was fine.

*lurker here*.   Yes I switched from Similac Sensitive to the Target brand of the same thing and Nicholas got constipated.  If I remember correctly, there is one different ingredient in the Target brand that isn't in the Similac brand.  I read the labels carefully and there was actually one different ingredient.  It's been a couple of years, so I can't remember the exact one.  Next time you go to Target, really read the label.  Who knows they could have changed it since 2009 when my DS was on it.

And I've seen plenty of reviews where babies became constipated from the Target brand.
