Due date moved late in the game

I had a talk (finally) with my midwife about how I feel like my dates are off because I was charting religiously so knowing when I ovulated/conceived puts the doctors and their fancy u/s equipment a week behind my calculations.  She looked back over my files (I switched to her at around 30 weeks) and she said "I really don't know how they came up with May 30th...you've been measuring ahead since your first u/s.  Let's change it to 5/25." 

I am much more comfortable with this so I am happy!  (I am terrified of Turtle inhaling meconium (sp?) so their 42 weeks would be my 43 weeks and I'm not even comfortable waiting past 41.)   I also had a "light sweep" done today and although I haven't even had the tiniest of cramping, I am very wishful!    And, she tentatively has me on the induction list for May 30th which I was told I can chicken out of, but that would put me back another week most likely...

Regardless, Turtle's made progress (3cm, very thinned out, -2 position) and I'm very hopeful this will happen naturally before May 30th!!

    Happy for you! Im due May 26th and will be going in to schedule when I will have my induction next Tuesday. I am really paranoid about the menconium thing too. Everyone keeps telling me its okay further but it scares me. Just happy to see im not the only one with the concern.

    Yeah - I have a few friends who had babies with menconium and, even though their babies are fine, they still had to spend some time in the NICU for monitoring.  Even though I cannot control any of it, I feel like if I can stack the odds in my baby's favor, I will.  Plus, I'd rather throw out my whole birth plan then have risk a sick baby, even if the risk is small.  Hopefully we will both go into labor naturally before our inductions!!!

    I just wanted to wish you luck and tell you that my DD1 inhaled meconium (and was luckily, fine, no NICU time) and I told my OB that I was petrified of going too much overdue because I don't want the same thing to happen to DD2.  She told me that first, she hasn't seen a meconium aspiration since she was in medical school 8 years ago, and second, that the meconium in the fluid can be due to the baby being stressed, which can happen before you're overdue.  My point is, try not to worry too much because there's nothing you can do about it (I'm worried too!) and that the risk of aspiration is very low.  Good luck!
