Onesies

Another post got me thinking....do you all still dress your LOs in onesies?  I don't put N in them anymore.  For some reason they just feel too babyish to me - silly, I know, since he's still a baby.  If you do still use them, when do you plan on ditching them?

I still use them since we had some in 9 month size.  Everything I bought 12 mos and up are not onesies.  It's not that they look too babyish to me, it's that as she gets mroe and more mobile it's almost impossible to get them snapped back up during diaper changes.  She has other places to go.

  • Only to sleep, on crazy hot nights.  And also when I am putting her in a skirt or tutu....then I am just using it like a shirt.  I feel like she doesn't look "put together" if I have her roaming around the streets in just a onesie.

  • We still use them, they are much cooler than a lot of the shirt/short sets we have, and it has been really hot here lately. When I take him out we put shorts or pants over the onesie, but most of the outfits we have are bulky. Plus, I want my baby to stay a baby for a bit longer. They dont really make a lot of onesies in his size though (24 months) so the onesies are being phased out.
  • Not nearly as much as I used to.  All of Maya's cute summer "leaving the house" clothes are either dresses or shirts and bottoms.  Her onesies are more for around the house- and like PP said, it's getting harder to snap them b/c Maya won't stay still long enough.

DH always puts her in a onesie if she gets dirty when I'm not home- but I think that's b/c they're in the top drawer or her dresser and that's as far as he looks when changing her, lol

  • We still use them. I am wanting to phase them out soon. Her 6 month onesies still fit her, she is very small for being 1, so we are going to continue to use those and also my dad just bought her a set of 12 month onesies so I'll most likely dress her in those around the house. I do want to start having more tops and shorts and things like that for her.

    Nothing against the onesies.

  • I haven't put DS in a onesie for a long time now. I'm not a big fan of a onesie with jeans/pants or shorts.

  • I've never been much of a fan of them to begin with.  Somehow the side always creeps into his diaper and wicks and gets nasty.

I've actually had a hard time finding plain white shirts in his size (6-9 mo) and ended up with some that are huge, but functional.

  • I do - A hasn't grown much in the past few months so she still fits into her onesies. Now that it's getting warmer, sometimes she just wears that around the house. I also like putting her in just onesies and baby legs - it's quick and easy. But she's been getting a lot of 12-18 months clothes as gifts and all are pants and shirts. So I think we're slowly moving away from onesies.

  • We do. It's easier for daycare. Since the weather here in MD starts of coolish in the AM and is warm by the PM, she typically wears a onesie and knit pants. That way, when/if it gets warm, our DCP can just take the pants off and let her crawl around in the onesie.

  • We do, but always with pants or shorts. I hate when he has just a tshirt on because it tends to ride up when I'm carrying him.

This is me. I use them a lot under stuff. Under shirts to mep her from flashing her belly and under dresses instead of bloomers.

Same. DD has a budda belly and I feel like her belly hangs out of a lot of regular shirts. I kinda love onesies and I'm going to be sad to ditch them!

I do still use them, but mostly just the plain white tank ones for undershirts.

  • This girl lives in onesies. I hate it when she has on separates. Maybe it's my hand weakness from one of my relapses, but pants/shorts are the worst. It takes me forever to get them on and off. I have a really hard time holding her when she is just wearing a shirt. She lives in onesies and babylegs.
  • Not too often. amd I know how  you feel about them feeling too babyish.  The only time I use them is when it's really hot out and we're going on a walk or something and I don't want him to get too hot.  That and I have a few as spare outfits at DC.  He still fits in his 12-month onesies and I think once he no longer fits I'll stop buying them.  I don't even know if onesies come bigger than that!
  • I still put her in onesies, but I always use them as a shirt with pants/shorts or under a dress.

This is another reason we don't use them often.  Plus, shirts and shorts are much easier to put on my little daredevil!

  • I still use them, most plain white ones as undershirts. I have trouble with the whole belly sticking out thing. I will go without if I have none clean, but I perfer to have one on underneath.

  • I love onesies and I'm sad cause now almost all of Clara's wardrobe is pants/shirts/dresses. Her clothes are 95% hand-me-downs so I don't get to pick them, but I dress her in her few onesies she has left because Iove how cute she looks in them and how you can see her fat little belly in them. I'd say she wears a onesie once or twice a week at this point.

  • I still put them on DS, but less often now. I also think they are too "baby-ish"...even though he's still a baby! I usually do put a plain white onesie under a tshirt because the shirts ride up. But today he's wearing a short sleeved onesie and pants, so sometimes he does still wear them. On the weekends he usually does wear a onesie.

  • I don't care for onesies with shorts/pants/skirts so she doesn't wear them in that sense.

She does where them underneath most outfits and always under her pj's.  I was actually wondering if I was the only person still putting them on under outfits. I even bought the sleeveless style from Carter's to wear under some of her summery outfits.  I'm thinking it'll will be too hot soon for two layers of clothes, though, so our onesie days may be numbered.

  • DD still wears them to day care occasionally.  When it was cold out I always had them on under her outfit, but I don't think I'll be using them much in the summer, and then I think she will be too old come the fall.  She is already wearing 18-24 month stuff, and I don't think they even make them larger than 24 months, so soon I won't be able to put her in them if I wanted to.

  • We still use them. I think she looks cute with a skirt over a onesie :-) DD is still crawling though. I think when she starts walking, I will ditch the onesies because IMO a kid who walks shouldn't wear a onesie.
