We will be traveling to a wedding. I know that you can rent car seats when you rent a car but I was wondering if anyone has heard of and purchased an inflatable, portable car seat booster seat (sold online at onestepeahead.com)? If so, did you think it was safe used in the rental car or should I just rent one along with the rental car?
thanks!

I would not use a rental seat because of the cleaning issue that Fred mentioned and because rental companies aren't always aware that seats need replacing even after a minor accident when they were installed but unoccupied, etc. (in fact, many parents aren't even aware of these rules). You just don't know the history of the seat.
As far as the bubble bum is concerned, it's a great seat. My daughter keeps one in her backpack at school in case of emergency pick up (we only have one car, so there are a huge number of vehicles she would ride in, a cab being most likely so keeping a bubble bum in her backpack was our best option) and if we were flying somewhere that's what we would bring. That said, she is already booster trained and knows how to use a booster safely and reliably does so. I wouldn't want the kid's first time using a booster to be a vacation where they're likely to be overexcited, overtired, overstimulated, etc since a booster is only safe if the child uses it correctly.
