LO is awake - when to get her?

When LO wakes up, when do you get them?  I have a video monitor and I'm watching DD - she just woke but is not upset, she's just looking around.  Usually I wait until she calls me (starts whining) before I get her, because sometimes she'll fall back asleep.  Do you all usually grab LO right away when they wake or do you wait for them to start fussing?

  • I wait for LO to fuss before getting her.

I usually wait for him to start getting fussy. He's getting pretty good at self-soothing, so usually will put himself back to sleep in a few minutes if he really doesn't need anything. Once he starts getting loud, I know he's not going back to sleep without intervention, and I'll go get him.
  • I wait until it's a true "I'm awake, come get me" fuss.  Ian's a very noisey sleeper and he grunts and groans all night and will sometimes wake up  fuss a little until he can get back in his comfy spot, then go back to sleep.  But, his I'm really awake fuss is different.

  • I let her be, and she went back to sleep.  :-)

  • I wait until I hear a real "I'm awake" yell. He's usually really good about going back to sleep if he's still tired.

  • if she wakes up in the night (which is rare) i feed her as soon as i hear her and she goes right back to sleep until her 12 hours are up and she's awake for the day. during naps,  if she starts getting angry, i'll go get her. if she's whiney, i let her fuss to sleep.
  • I absolutely wait until he's letting me know he's done.  I appreciate having the extra time in the morning to get dressed/eat breakfast plus I love watching him on the video monitor.  It's so funny to see him try to roll over and playing with his hands.

I am crazy obsessive mother who runs into his room and picks him him the minute I see his eyes open (also have a video monitor).

    ...I should probably stop that.

I always wait until he's upset.  DS has been in his swing for about 45 minutes currently and I've seen him wake up and look around twice and both times he's gone back to sleep on his own.  Whenever he wakes up I try to be extra quiet in case he's not quite ready to get up and needs to fall asleep again! :)

  • I always wait, I think its a good way for them to learn to self sooth....At first I use to run and get her right away...
