Has your LO been sick yet?

I'm assuming the daycare babies most likely have...

My DD got sick the 3rd day she was in daycare and has been sick since. The first cold lasted about 10 days, she was good for a couple of days and got another one, then she had an ear infection, got done with antibiotics last Wednesday and on Friday she got a tummy virus. Yesterday the new cold started and she barely has a voice.

I know this is what they need to go through to build their immune system, but it's so hard to watch them when they are sick :(

It also doesn't help when we still have to pay for daycare even though we are home with them.

Well, at least when I have a second baby, all of this won't be quite as shocking :p

DH got sick about 3 weeks ago. He then passed it to me and DS just as his was finally getting better. Now, for 2 weeks, both LO and I have had a cold consisting of runny nose, slight fever, lethargy (for me), and post nasal drip.  The post nasal drip is what is lingering for me and LO.  Monday night/Tuesday morning, I spent 4 hours trying to get LO back to sleep. We suctioned nose, used humidifier, gave acetaminophen, fed him, and yet it still took 4 hours.  I only got 3 hours of sleep that night.  Let's just say that my 12 hour Tuesday was horrific.

It seems that during the day time, things are fine; but nighttime just seems to exacerbate the situation.

Oh, and LO is not in daycare.

I still need to shoot DH in the arm with his tetanus and flu shot. I'll probably wait until 2012 flu season to do the flu shot.

  • DD has had a small cold, but nothing major.  I was miserable watching her with her stuffed nose and pathetic little cough.  Mostly I was angry at DH for bring home a cold.  I know there was nothing he could've done, but I was still mad regardless.

  • Yep, she's been in daycare for 3.5 months now, so she has been sick many times. I don't think it bothers her to be sick as much as it bothers me to see her sick.

  • DS had both type A and type B flu all at once at around 11 weeks. If the people in the ER would have knows what they were doing it would have saved a lot of time and trouble but he got better pretty quick and has been healthy since then. He does go to daycare but the flu came from my DH who refused to get a flu shot so the fault is all his.

my son is not in daycare. he got a virus when he was 2 months that lasted for 3 weeks--nothing major; occasional cough and lots of boogers/runny nose. he has also had the scoots a couple of times. it bothers us WAY more than it does them.

We spent 3 days in the hospital with some sort of virus in March and he has had a couple other viruses.  It is always hard seeing him sick but he usually takes it in stride.

  • DS got hand, foot, and mouth about two weeks into daycare.  It didn't bother him one bit though... I didn't even know he had it until I got it, as the symptoms were much more noticeable on me than they were on him.  Other than that, he's been super healthy.

  • I think I've spent more time NOT working than I HAVE working due to being called constantly about DS being sick.  It's to the point that I'm out of sick/vacation time (majority went to maternity leave) and I had to apply for intermittent FMLA this week.  :-(
