Non-BF ? Back to work

I am comtemplatig trying to find a part-time job at a Montessori school. I have a teaching degree but never taught and graduated over 10 years ago and have been out of the business sector for almost 4 1/2 years. The one nearby school is looking for a CV, which bGW I never even heard of!  Any tips for righting or and for covering my work absence and the fact that I have a certificate of advanced standing that I never used?  And if anyone has worked in a pre-school, what do they except ffor you at an interview?  A portfolio?  Lesson plan?  What the hell am I even thinking, l

  • A CV (curriculum vitae) is basically a resume but in a different format.  Google curriculum vita examples and you'll get some.  You can also choose one of your favorite professors and Google "Dr. So and So Curriculum Vita" to see how they have it set up.  Another option is to check out professor profiles on a large university's website.  I know Kansas University posts them.

  • I have no info but wanted to wish you luck!
  • I've found that people are very understanding about employment gaps because you're staying home with kids. From what I've been able to tell, they just want to see that you were doing something when you were out of work--and whether that's taking care of kids, taking classes, etc, they don't care.

Some states have a temporary teaching certificate you can get, and I think something like that would be a nice intermediary measure in an interview.

The certificate with advanced standing is a teaching cert that states I need to teach for one year with a mentor for it to become permanent certificate. I was an elementary education major and passed the Praxis exam. It is just hard to think about going back with no real experience. It would not be so hard if the kids were a little older and I could expand my search but right now I only want to look where I would send DD which does not give me a great shot.
