How did your labor start?

Did your labor start with BH contrax and gradually turn into painful contrax or are they pretty much unrelated? I looked into the mirror today and it really looks liked baby has finally dropped (my mom says I dropped the day before I was born). I have been having BH all morning, where I usually only get them at night. I am just wondering is something is happening or if it's just wishful thinking.

I have had BH like crazy and was even kept overnight in L&D because I was having them timeable but they were not really doing anything. Dr. told me tht they dont know unless they check.

With DD, I woke up with a back ache and bloody show. Contractions started shortly after. I don't remember having a build up of BH.

My water broke at home, and I was having BH that I couldn't even feel when they hooked me up to the monitor at the hospital. Within 4 hours, the real contractions started, and they were intense from the start. I think I'm kind of atypical though as far as labor goes...

I had what felt like one super long constant BH contraction for three full days before my water broke.

When I first started getting BH contractions during my pregnancy I would only feel them in the late evening but as I got closer to the end I started feeling them earlier in the day.

This is how my labor went pretty much exactly.

I had cramping before I went to bed that night that was slightly uncomfortable but not unbearable. I got woken up around 2am with a VERY painful contraction. I went to pee and while on the toilet had another extremely painful contraction. That's when I knew something was up because my BH contractions had never hurt THAT badly.

Maybe try drinking a lot of water and seeing if the BH subside? With my first DD, my water broke while I was sleeping and then about two hours later the real contractions kicked in.

Thanks for your input, ladies. Of course, as soon as I posted this question the BH stopped almost completely. I guess I'll have to file this morning under "wishful thinking." Tomorrow I will get my first internal at 39w5d so that I can drive myself even more crazy with useless knowledge, lol.

I just got really strong cramping off and on. Like, stronger than normal period cramping, but not by much (my period cramps are pretty gnarly though). After a while, a backache was incorporated in with the cramping. Then they started all getting stronger and that's when I decided to start timing. 13 hours later, my LO was born.

My water broke and contractions started right after. Same as my first DD. Went pretty much to active labour right away.

My water broke as I got into bed for the night. (37 weeks exactly and had no contractions) I called the dr and the had us come in. The inserted cevidil and contractions started 4 hours later.
