What do you feed for breakfast?

I made DS oatmeal this morning and we gave him three bites. All three times he made this hilarious face and spit it out. It was funny so of course we had to video it!! What are you giving for breakfast. We haven't given eggs yet but I'm guessing he's close enough to a year that it would be safe?

Re: What do you feed for breakfast?

  • She's not too crazy about eggs, so if I have one I give her some.  We usually do a carb (cheerios, pancakes, waffles, toast) a fruit and some yogurt.

  • We do eggs a lot. She loves them! This morning she had scrambled eggs, chicken sausage, and fruit. Other mornings, she has a handful of Cheerios and plain greek yogurt with added fruit.

  • B loves eggs.  Also, I made a bunch of mini pancakes and froze them so I just pop them in microwave.  He crams them in his mouth.  Also bananas, cheerios, toast.
  • A mixture of some of the following:

English muffin with 100% fruit spread

    Waffles, french toast sticks, pancakes

Scrambled eggs (not really a fan yet)

Any kinds of fruit that we have - I just dice it up or cut it into long, thin sticks b/c she loves feeding herself with the big pieces. She really likes strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, and kiwi.

Cottage cheese (one of her absolute favorite foods - she will eat an unlimited amount of this!)

    Oatmeal

Awesome ideas, ladies!  Does anyone have any recipes for pancakes?  E loves them, but I'm not sure they're the healthiest since I just make the box kind. Any other ones you girls use?  Thanks!

  • I mix oatmeal with fruit chunks or purees and he loves it, plain not so much. I do fresh fruit, and eggs and toast as well. I also made wheat pancakes awhile back, but haven't done them in awhile.
  • Awesome ideas ladies :)

Usually it's organic oatmeal with a fruit mixed in (homemade applesauce or 1/2 banana).  Some days it's an egg, fruit, and toast or if we're having homemade pancakes, I'll make a little one for DS.

I just realized you asked for a recipe....I blogged about it a few months ago.  These pancakes are AWESOME.  And they're healthy as well...we mix the flour with half whole wheat and half white.

  • Freeze the pancakes on a cookie sheet and then toss them into a ziploc once frozen.  So easy.  Both of my kids go crazy over them.
  • DS loves bread so he gets toast just about everyday, I spread either applesauce, pearsauce, or mushed up bananas on it. He also gets a fruit he can pick up himself, strawberries, grapes, blueberries, melon, banana, pineapple, mango. Eggs are a big hit too.

  • She usually gets pancakes or french toast sticks, fruit and sometimes yogurt. We have tried eggs but she doesn't seem to be a real big fan of them. She also refuses to eat any kind of meat right now, although I keep offering them to her.
  • We usually alternate between oatmeal (with fruit and Greek yogurt in it) and scrambled eggs (served with fruit and cheerios).  Occasionally I make her pancakes or something else but these are my old stand bys.

  • Eggs, oatmeal, yogurt, waffles or pancakes.
  • DD loves eggs- scrambled or in an omelet.  That's her favorite thing.  I also give her a toasted frozen whole wheat waffle with fruit.  She used to like yogurt but suddenly decided she hates it and spits it back out at me, so we're not doing yogurt right now. :)

  • N usually gets fruit and a bread.  Grapes/pear/banana/etc. and waffle/Os/toast/etc.  He eats scrambled eggs but usually for dinner :)

  • J's favorite is (or I think it is, anyway!) is a slice of wholegrain toast w/some pureed fruit to soften it a bit & full-fat, plain Greek yogurt (Fage Total, really great protein source) sweetened with just a bit more fruit puree.

  • We usually do eggs-sometimes plain scrambled or sometimes with cheese, or spinach etc.  She loves them.  I also give the Van's mini waffles or toast spread with greek yogurt.  I do like PP and make a bunch of mini pancakes and freeze them.  Super easy.  I just bought buckwheat flour and followed the recipe for pancakes on the package.  She also always has a fruit with breakfast.
