What time does she get up? This is DS schedule and the past few days instead of waking up at 6. 5 is the new magic hour....

She usually wakes up around 6:45 and hangs out with DH while he gets ready for work. Sometimes, like today, she wakes up earlier because she poops (girl can't stand a messy diaper), so I changed her, and she went back to sleep until about 7:30 and then played in her crib until 7:45 when she pooped again...

I am usually in bed by 10:30 or 11.

We start DS's bedtime routine at 7:30, with him in bed at 7:45.  We then start DD's bedtime routine with lights out at 8:00.

I tried changin his diaper this morning, giving him a pacifier and rubbing his back. I was met with screams. He wanted to play.

Is his room close enough to yours that you would hear him crying/screaming? If so, I'd just turn off the monitor and let him play until you're ready to get up. DD is really good about this. She's been known just to play for up to an hour. In her crib, she has her blankets, a stuffed animal, and a toy that attaches to one side. She also likes to look out the window.

He's down the hall, not far. I have turned off the monitor before and not gotten up right away....Maybe I should just do that tomorrow and get up when I'm ready. I just feel guilty doing this.

I understand. I did at first, too, but...then I got over it. As long as he's safe and happy, he's fine, and you deserve your rest!

Butting in ladies, don't feel bad, he needs to learn to hang out by himself too, it is good for them to have quiet time. If he didn't want to be in there, you'd know it. DH is always so quick to run in there and grab him out of bed before he's made a peep just because he saw him awake on the video monitor. I finally said this weekend: "do you want to be bugged the second you open your eyes?" Give him some chill time, it will be good for you both. I have officially shut off my monitor for the entire night, and I can hear him if he is crying, otherwise, I know he's fine.

Good advice! I guess part of the problem is I have no idea how long he's been crying or fussing when I wake up so I don't want to make him stay alone if he's been upset for an  unknown amount of time.

  • What time do you typically go to bed? Between 9 and 10 most nights. Earlier if I'm tired.

What is LO's bed time? 7 and 8 pm depending on when his last nap ended and how long he wants to nurse before he passes out.

  • I usually go to bed around 10:30-11 and DD is in bed usually by 9.  It used to be 8, but things have changed ever since she got a monster of a cold. Grrr
  • We all go to bed around 9:30p.

  • Baby sleeps from 10 PM to 10 AM.

Husband goes to bed at 10 PM, a little later on the weekends.

I rarely go to bed before midnight, usually closer to 2 AM. I'm a night owl with some insomnia issues. I get up when I hear the baby at 10 AM. Unless I have an appointment or something to do earlier, then it's me waking her up "early"  :)

  • I go to bed way too late, usually around 1 or 2. DD goes to bed usually between 9 and 10, but if she doesn't take her third nap, all bets are off.
  • I don't usually get to bed until 2 am because of my work schedule (until midnight, not home until 12:30 typically, then I pump, do dishes, make coffee for the morning, relax and wind down, etc.).  LO goes to bed at 10 pm because of this--that way, he isn't up at 5:30 or 6 am because that would SUCK.

  • I go to sleep whenever she does, which is usually between 9:30 and 10:30. She wakes up at 7am during the week day, then has a nap from 8am-10am. On the weekends she will nurse at 7am then sleep until 10/10:30am.
  • DS is usually in bed around 830. 9 at the very latest.

DH and I go to bed around 1030 or so.
