Dr scheduled an early ultrasound *TERRIFIED*

For the past two days I've been spotting, but nothing too crazy. Very, very, very light (like barely there) and light brown in color. But today, the flow increased a bit and I've had cramps. Like period cramps, not crazy painful cramps. But it worried me enough to call my OB who scheduled an ultrasound for tomorrow morning. Now I'm *TERRIFIED* and *FREAKING* out, and I can't stop worrying or crying. I know I shouldn't be putting this kind of stress on my body, but how do you deal with this when you can't take a Xanax or have a cocktail?!?

  • I'm so sorry to hear that sweetie. I know it's really hard but try to calm yourself as much as possible. It sounds corny but positive affirmations can really help or yoga -- when I'm really stressed I try to get to a class (or if you have a DVD do it at home). Just know that worrying won't change the outcome and try to stay positive. Lots of women have spotting and their babies turn out happy and healthy. Fingers crossed for a great report tomorrow!

  • First I hope everything is okay with the ultrasound. I know its easy to say stressing yourself out and crying is not good for yourself or the baby but its true. I would try to just relax until your ultrasound and do something that will take your mind off of it (I know its harder to do than said). Wishing you the best of luck. t&p

I just got home from an emergency appointment with my obgyn after spotting and going to the emergency room on Saturday morning. Apparently spotting isn't uncommon; my doctor told me that once hormone levels reach a certain point it's more effective to do an ultrasound. Try to stay positive, I know it's difficult.

So sorry to hear this!!!  I know how hard it is to try to relax and not stress - virtually impossible!  What helped me this weekend was telling myself that worrying wasn't going to change anything for the better, only make things worse emotionally and potentially physically.  I also recited positive thoughts/bible verses, etc...  Anything that makes you smile or usually comforts you, try it.  Also, try to get some rest and drink some water.

Know that I'm praying for you and thinking of you!  Sending you tons of positive thoughts for your u/s tomorrow.

  • Lots of T&P coming your way! Hope everything works out okay... as PP's have said, the best thing you can do is some sort of activity to take your mind off of it for as much as possible.

    Dear Baby Pacheco...

My first pregnancy I had such severe menstrual cramping that I thought there was no way everything could be healthy. Sure enough it was just the uterus stretching and I have a perfectly healthy daughter. For some reason it seems to be the symptom nobody talks about. Can't wait to hear your good news tomorrow!
  • I'm so sorry that you're going through this! I'm definitely sending T&P's your way. I can't imagine how hard it is to keep it off your mind, but perhaps a dinner out with DH, a movie and ice cream, or a bubble bath (sans the wine) can ease your mind a bit?

Please keep us posted on how everything goes tomorrow morning.
