Just for fun- tell us about your fur babies!

I have a rescue cat- she's 2 years old and all black. I also have a 1 year old wheaten terrier puppy. She's naughty, but I love her! She's been a great distraction from this IF struggle.

Re: Fur baby poll NIFR

  • I have two cats. One is an orange tabby cat we got as a kitten from DH youngest brother and he is the most lovable cat ever. All he wants to do is cuddle and be around you all of the time. If I go into a room and shut the door he will sit there and meow until he is let in. Also, if I go upstairs and come back down, he will sit up there and meow at the door until I call his name and tell him I am down stairs and he then comes down. Our second cat is a rescue cat and she is much more contrairy/prissy. She is one who only wants loving and attention when she wants it and that is usually when she wants food.

Our fur baby, Daisy, is in my siggy. She is also known as lazy Daisy, Daisy Dukes and Tooter McTooterson.  We rescued her at 10 weeks and she is spoiled rotten. She a whippet with some shar-pei and possibly some lab mixed in, though she is the worst retriever ever! (She likes to be chased....silly dog.)

I have 2 dogs, a jack russell terrierr (yes, she is always in trouble!), and a long haired chihuahua.  We also have 2 cats.  I love all my furbabies and they each bring me joy in their own way.  Lately my chi has been helping me get through the hard days because he just loves to cuddle and that's what I'm usually looking for when it gets tough.  When I need a long walk with company who won't give me any stupid advice my jack is there for me.

I am hugely in love with my puppy, Bailey!!!! She is about 3.5 now and is the light of my life....just kidding but close to it.  We got her from an animal shelter and we have no idea what breeds she is...her mom was a besenji/vizsla mix and they said the dad was a lab/shepard but it must be the maildog's puppy because she is definately not lab/shepard (she topped out at 35 lbs).  We are two peas in a pod and do whatever we can together.  My husband words the midnight shift so my puppy and me have a cuddling routine for night time and she follows me around the house.  I am looking forward to summer break so that we can spend more time together.

It is amazing how tuned in she is to me and when I have been going through my struggles with miscarriages she seems to know and stays by my side.

  • My fur baby is Maxie, pic in siggy. She's a 4 yr old Boxer. DH had her since she was a few weeks old, which was before we met. When we first started dating she was super jealous. When we'd sit on the couch to watch a movie she'd try to get in between us and if we didn't let her on the couch she'd sit between our legs so they weren't touching. lol She tolerates me much better now, but is 100% DH's dog. If anything ever happened to him I don't know what she'd do.

  • Our fur baby Daisy is 11 years old.  She is a white husky/shepard mut.  Originally she was our BIL/SIL but they passed her onto my DH in 2005.  We just love her to pieces.  She is spoiled rotten and rules the house.  She loves to get all of our attention and even when the two of us are sitting together wedges in the middle.  She can be mischievous but it is hard to discipline her.  We are lucky to have her as part of our family and she is a source of joy and unconditional love during our IF struggles.

We have 3 kitty boys all rescues.

Prince Tuesday (Tutu Berries, Tubers, PT, Tues) is our old man at 17-years-old. He's all orange with medium length hair and he has a mane around his neck. A very sweet boy who loves to pummel our bellies before he lays down.

Murray Hewitt (Furry Murray, Murr-Toto, Murr-mo) is our youngest at 2 and a half years old. He's gray with a white chin, chest and belly as well as white socks. He looks like a gray fox. He also has medium length hair. He's a chirper and a cuddler when he feels like it. We got him two summers ago after our first loss. He really helped us feel positive and brings us lots of joy.

Peanut (or P.Nutt, Paul William Nutt, Pee Pee) is our middle boy. He is a deep orange tabby. He is very overweight and he has a tiny head. We inherited him from Mr. BzeetyD's mom who passed away last year. He is a purr machine and he loves to lay on his back with his belly on the air.

All our boys bring us happiness and lots of laughs.

Three cats is really 1 cat too many for us, but Mr. BzeetyD's mom wanted us to have Peanut and there you go.

  • We have a Basset Hound named Floyd (aka "Big Puppy") who we adopted from the local Basset rescue at 4 months old. He was DH's birthday gift for his first bday post-transplant. He's a year and 5 months now and still a crazy puppy! Floyd was named by the rescue and we kept his name because he's "Floppy Floyd".

We also have Zoey, a half Boxer/half Basset mix. She is from the same Basset rescue as Floyd and is about 2 years old. She is shaped like a Basset but is brindle like a Boxer and has Boxer legs (homegirl can jump!) We were just going to foster her so that Floyd would have a playmate, but we fell in love with her. Zoey's namesake is Zooey Deschanel, we got her right around the time "New Girl" started. Her nickname is "Kitty" or "Zo Zo Kitty" because we think her brindle makes her look like a cat, and she's super nimble.

They're insane, but we couldn't imagine life without them!

We have two dogs. I have a 3 year old beagle and he is not the brightest crayon in the box, but I still love him! He's fun and lovable at the right times, and he learns well. DH has a pit/lab mix that is 8-ish. She is a great dog! She's my guarddog when DH is gone, she stays within ear shot when out without a leash (which is only out in the country and on the beach), and she kills anything (which isn't always good). Here lately they've decided that digging in the trash at night is fun stuff. Last night I made stuffed shells and left some in the dish on the stove top and I could hear a fork hitting the dish, and sure enough, the entire dish was cleaned this morning.

I love reading about all the fur babies!

We have two cream french bulldogs who are brothers.  They are 3.5 years old and they are the loves of my life.  We have slowly turned into those crazy dog people.  Just last week, one of them tore a ligament in his knee and had knee surgery.  I have been thinking about buying one of those dog strollers while he recovers so he can get some fresh air!  DH says if I do that, I will officially be off the deep end... so I haven't pulled the trigger...YET!

  • We have a 2 year old doberman/coonhound mix that we rescued from a shelter when she was just 3 months old. (she was born in the shelter).

If IVF doesn't work for us we plan on adopting another fur baby :) we're determined to make our Dana a big sister hahaha

I have 3 rescue kitties that are 11, 12, and 13 years old.  The oldest is Baxter my first pet I got after I moved out of my parents house.  He thinks he is the king of the castle:

    image

And here is Oreo (left) and Sam (right).  Oreo came from a hoarder that had over 200 cats in her home.  The poor baby had urine stains all over her legs and paws when I got her.  She is such a sweetheart and loves to go outside and lay on the porch.  Sam came from the humane society and he is the funniest cat I have ever had.  He acts more like a dog than a cat and can be a big airhead at times:

And my sweet Dixie (11 year old Yellow lab) is in my Siggy.  I got her when I was living on my own and she is the first dog I got on my own.  She is my baby but is starting to slow down with age which is hard to see.  I love her so much <3

We have one cat, Agamemnon ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Agamemnon) or "Aggie" for short.  He was a rescue, so we think he is around 6 years old.  He's all black with very green eyes.  And I renamed him because when I adopted him they were calling him "FeeFee"--what the hell kind of name is that for a MALE cat?

We also have a 7 year old female Springer Spaniel named Barley and a 5 year old male German Shepherd named Stoker.  Stoker is HUGE (even for a GS) and weighs just over 100 pounds.  He's also the biggest wuss on the planet!  :)

  • Do you  have all day? Because I have SIX pets!

So Bijou is my 9 year old pit bull mix. She's a big sweetie but really wishes she was the only dog again!

     image

Colston is our 21 month old chocolate lab (he's in my siggy). He is full of personality, has the funniest and most annoying high pitched bark that just doesn't fit his big ol' body. All he wants to do is fetch and fetch some more.

Tucker is our 1 year old terrier mix that I rescued about 8 months ago from a parking lot where I taught school. The plan was to fatten him up, get him vaccinated and adopt him out. Uhh...did I mention we've had him for 8 months?

     image

Then the cats: Marshall is 9 years old. He's a fat orange tabby. He's really sweet and can be really shy. Mostly he just sleeps all day.

Simon Wigglesworth (aka Swiggles) is 2 years old and he's a purebred Snowshoe cat. He's beautiful and he's in my siggy too. Simon is super playful and spends his days hunting birds. Although lately I think the birds have been hunting him! I've watched him repeatedly get pecked at by a couple of birds with nests in our yard. He gets so annoyed with them but never tries to go after them.

And last is Liam. He's about a year old and is a gray tabby. He was also a rescue from the school. He and Swiggles are inseparable and play all. day. long!

  • We have two kitties! Both are purebred Bengals with all the charm and activeness the bred is known for- but very different personalities.

Ebon Askavi AKA Kavi AKA Dancer: Our eldest- he's three and a half. We actually got him as a companion cat for our elderly Siamese who passed away last winter. They didn't get along well though and Kavi developed a nervous personality after a couple of years of being beaten up by the other cat. He's a total sweetheart if you're quiet and calm with him and he loves to walk up and down DH and I while we sleep- he's very delicate and deliberate with how he puts his paws down to walk over us- and so he's our dancer. Kavi favors DH but he's sweet to both of us.

ShiroTatsu AKA Tatsu (Taught-Sue): Our youngest. He'll turn one in July and since Bengals have an extended kittenhood (they stop growing around 2) he's still deep in kitten crazy. When our Siamese passed away, Kavi bloomed into a much happier cat- but he really missed companionship so we went looking for a cat who would let Kavi be the top cat. Tatsu was the runt of his litter, picked on by everyone and incredibly good natured about it. He and Kavi get along like salt and pepper- it's like they were meant to be together. Right now he's staring intently at me waiting for me to pick him up and let him sit on my shoulder.  Tatsu adores me (He loves everyone though) and follows me everywhere. He's my sweet baby boy and makes IF so much more tolerable.
