I really like Claire (my great-grandmother's name). My husband really likes Samantha. Obviously, we have some time to decide, considering we don't even know the sex yet. I just want to get some anonymous opinions...go!

I really like them both! What letter does your last name start with? Also, Samanthas often get called Sam once they get older, so it would depend on whether or not you like that.

Both lovely. I personally like Claire, and always have. It seems more timeless to me, while Samantha seems a bit more dated.

Last name starts with S. I'm okay with a girl nicknamed Sam, however, I don't know how she (if she is a she) would feel about it!

Those are two of my favorite girl names! I vote for Samantha because I don't hear it as much as Claire. You can't go wrong though. Samantha Claire is lovely!

I've always loved Claire. Samantha is just meh; it seems a little dated. Have you considered Samara? That was one of my top girl names once upon a time. Claire Samara is so pretty.

Samantha is so dated to me. I grew up with way too many. Claire by default. I do like Clara though!

I actually really like both equally. The only way I would be able to decide between the two is SSA rankings. Samantha (to my surprise) is ranked as much more popular (#17) and Claire is only #50.

Claire however is rising slowly in popularity (and I know several little Claires) whereas Samantha seems to be losing some ground (and I rarely meet one? I think I've only known maybe 2 in my life?).

I also am not a huge fan of the nn "Sam" for a girl.

ETA: Sooo, where does my analysis leave us? Lol. Actually not sure (so helpful right?). I like less popular names, so just going by stats I'd have to say Claire.
