Expired meds... boo

A friend of a friend who did 4 IVFs before adopting her daughter last year offered me her left over meds. I was so thrilled and touched that she would give them to me. She had said they expired in 2013.  I went over to her house today to get them. I  thought I hit the lottery as she had (3) 900iu pens of gonal F!   I just got home and sorted through the bag.  They all expired in 11/11!!!  I want to cry over the death of this precious gonal F.  They were refrigerated the whole time but isn't 7 months pushing it?

TTC #1 since 8/1/10; Me:41 and BRCA1+, DH:46
DOR (FSH 24.3)/ terrible egg quality ; homozygous MTHFR c677t
5 IUI's: 2/11 to 6/11 and 1/12= BFN
OE IVF#1-4 8/11-6/12= all BFN
DE IVF#1 11/12 bad embryos= BFN
DE IVF #2 2/13 BFP/Beta hell: m/c 5w6d
CFNBC 7 months, not doing well; decided on guarantee program at RBA w/frozen DE
DE IVF #3 1/14  ET 4BB; BFP;M/C 5w1d, incomplete m/c; MVA extraction in ER 7w1d

DE FET#1 ET 3/1714; BFP, beta 1 3/27= 197, beta 2 3/31= 1586, beta 3 4/7= 13879!!
First u/s= Twins with HBs at 6w2d! We are Team Pink x 2!!

K & K born 11/21/14 at 38wks 4 days

    I am sorry, but yes I think so.  How are you?  I have been thinking about you after your last post.  Did you decide to move forward?
    I am AMA and all tests on H came back normal
    3 failed IVF with OE and 2 failed frozen DE cycles
    Last fresh hail mary DE cycle starting Feb 2013
    PAIF/SAIF always welcome

    I would ask someone you know with a pharma background- most meds dont magically die when they expire, they just start losing efficacy.  Each drug has its own half-life.  I dont quite understand exactly how it works, but in theory you could still use them if someone could figure out how their effetiveness has changed since the expiration date and adjust the dose accordingly.  I know, not probably something your RE will go for.  But its maybe worth asking.

    After 2 years, numerous tests, abdonimal surgery, and 2 IVF cycles, we are so grateful to be expecting.
    Transferred 2 "perfect" 8-cell embies 6/12. Beta 1 6/25: 472! Beta 2 6/27: 1055!
    First u/s shows TRIPLETS! WHAT?!?! Both embies stuck and one split. OMG

    Levi, Henry, and Amelia were born healthy at 34w3d.

    DH and I talked about it on Sunday. He said ultimately it is my decision and if I want to stop we can. But he thinks we should try one more time despite the impossible odds and that I might regret it in a few months when we no longer have insurance coverage to see this particular doctor.  I put on my estrogen patch yesterday....

    Yeah, I've heard about the losing efficacy as well.  Since I need all the help I can get to grow my 1 or 2 eggs, I probably shouldn't risk using these!!

    I would call your local pharmacist & ask them about the expired Gonal-F. They only expired what, 7 months ago? so I wouldn't think they would be a total loss?!? Crossing my fingers this works out in your favor! Good luck...

    4/28/11 IUI#1 = BFP!(5/25), EDD 2/2/12 - m/c 5w3d

    Lilypie Pregnancy tickers After years of struggling with infertility issues (PCOS since I was 16) and 15 medicated cycles we finally got blessed with our son.
