Ultimate crib sheet

STM's...heard from mothers I know that this is a must have. I received two from a friend who is a mother of 3. She says she snaps over the regular fitted crib sheet and snaps off when it needs changing. She swears by it and got me two so I could put the other one down while one is washing.  Do you ladies use them/like them?

We didn't have it, but we did crib sheet, waterproof sheet, then another crib sheet.  If there needed to be a change (which was rare, but it happened)you ripped off the top two and it left you with a clean crib sheet.  I'm not sure I would want to deal with snaps in the dark, but it does sound like it'd be helpful. :)

  • They make one that zips, I think a zipper would be easier but fiddling with either in the middle of the night would be a Biotch.  I'll just stick with my regular old sheets thanks.

I actually had not heard of this until now. We just used a mattress protector and a regular crib sheet. Never any issues!

I got 3 or 4 of these because i read how great they were! well i didnt use them once and never needed to. I thought they were a waste.  but i guess ill find out with baby #2
  • I do have a waterproof mattress pad and an two pack of plain fitted sheets. So maybe I'll see what works best.
  • I inherited some from someone who swore by them.
  • I just layered flannel lap pads (waterproof) between sets of sheets. Cheaper and easier to change in the middle of the night.

I got one with DS#1 and we never used it. We never really had to change sheets during the night.  I can only think of maybe one or two times.  We cloth diaper so maybe we don't get leaks like with disposables?  I'm not sure what I'm missing here!

For us it was more spit-up in the beginning (lots and lots of spit-up), and DS taking off his diaper once he got older.  As he got older, it was more about me than it was him - I was way too tired to be changing sheets. lol

But yeah, even then it wasn't very often.

  • I have never heard of them.  We had a crib for DS and then with DD but both ended up co-sleeping almost exclusively so all our lovely crib sheets went unused.

Perhaps this makes me sound like an absolutely terrible parent, but if there was ever a need to change the bed sheets I usually just laid down a towel over the wet spot and dealt with it in the morning.

  • We got one from our registry.  We didn't actually use it until DS was older and we were potty training at night.  It was easy to yank off the bed and have a clean sheet underneath if he woke up wet.  Also used whenever DS had a stomach virus.  Saved at least one bedding change at night.

Also, I put it UNDER my sheets towards the end of my pregnancy when I was terrified of my water breaking at night and ruining my mattress.  :)
