So I was gonna call the doc but changed my mind for now since he seems to be doing a bit better....
So LO has had a bit of congestion for the past couple of weeks that we think is due to allergies (no fever or other symptoms). We use saline drops and the nose frida to suck out the snot (rofl). This morning he was a little stuffy and I put him down for a nap..... about 40 mins later he wakes up crying hard, which is unusual for him. I go into his room and he has white stuff coming out of his nose. It appeared it may have been that he spit up through his nose (definitely wasn't boogers)...... then he sneezed and a bunch more came out and he cried harder. I finially got him to calm down, steamed up the bathroom, and sat with him in there for 10 mins...which seemed to help. But the crazy amount of white crap coming out of his nose freaked me out...anyone else have this?
Re: Anyone ever have this with their LO?
I've heard of that happening before (spit-up from the nose). I guess if you can make it happen with milk or soda, why not spit-up? I bet it would be uncomfortable though, since it would have stomach enzymes and all in it.
By the way, we thought DS had some pollen allergies too and the pedi told us that it's very rare to develop seasonal allergies the first year of life, and most likely it was just leftover congestion from a mild virus.
I do agree that it may have just been milk mixed with some flem, and it sounds like it may have been painful coming out. Poor little guy!
My pedi says that if these type of symptoms have lasted for longer that 2 weeks, LO needs to be seen. My LO had 2 ear infections that came on after being congested for 2+ weeks. Also, try elevating the crib mattress by stuffing a towel or two under the mattress. This will help with the congestion/runny nose.
