When?

If you cloth diaper WHEN did you decide to? We all know the list for cloth diapering.. But when did you decide it was something you wanted to do?

Well before LO was born? Or after? And was your SO always on board? Or did he need a little nudge to accept?

ETA- Did you try cloth diapering and it just wasn't for your family??

We wanted to before LO was born but because of washing machine concerns with our rental unit that we have been in since June '11, we will start next month once we get moved into our house!

I had always known that it was something that I would consider since I remembered my mom using a diaper service for my brother. However, once we got pregnant, I didn't see too many options though in the area we live so I thought it would be a no go.

But then when we were walking through BabiesRUs registering, my husband spotted gDiapers and was hooked. I happily went along with it and we haven't gone back since.

Years before my bfp. I was looking up all things baby and found that diapers had evolved a ton since we were kids. A co-worker did it too, so I found out some from her. It didn't take much convincing DH. At first I showed him the financials and he was on board. Now that he's experience sposies when we travel he LOVES cloth that much more!

I think it was around month 5 in the pregnancy. One of my friends on TK is a CD lady (MrsB) and after hearing how much she loved them I became interested. I had a small stash (5 BG's) upon starting and then when DD was about 3 months bought a bunch more. Now she is in dispos for bedtime and if we are out running errands but otherwise in cloth.

I had seen BumGenius on a few people's Target baby registries, but they were only available online and I'd always be looking too late to order them before the baby shower. I was really curious about them though, so for one friend I looked up a cloth diaper store and went to look. I must have spent an hour in that store... I ended up buying one BG for her and 2 to keep, either to use for future gifts or our own kids at some point (this was several months before we started TTC). I may have given it thought once or twice before then too. Anyway, I knew long before I was pregnant that we would CD. DH didn't take any convincing, although he did think for a little while that we needed a second washer for the diapers! LOL

^^ DH was initially disgusted by the thought of poo swishing around with clothes. I don't know what he was thinking? lol

The CD idea was brought up by my MIL who thought it would be nice to have a few burp/prefolds in hand in case we ran out of diapers.. I said heck no! I am not dealing with poop!

I looked into it when DD was a few weeks old and not knowing much DH was not convinced. I decided I was doing this in March and officialy started in April. Haven't bought disposables since then. I have three disposables left!!!
