I always hate when a baby gets their first cold. DD1 and I have been battling a nasty cold for about 4 days and now baby is sneezing, eyes watering and stuffed up. I feel so bad for her.
Awww, sorry to hear that. Since my DD is in pre-school I worry that DS will get sick a lot sooner than I would like. Not to mention he will also be in daycare at 8 weeks. It makes me nervous. I think you can use saline nose drops for babies to help with a stuffed up nose.
Call your pediatrician ASAP. When this happened with DD at 5w, they were ?ber concerned. They ended up putting her in NICU for 5 days.
Really why? Was there some additional symptom? DD1 brought home a cold. I have it now (I was hoping it was just allergies) but today DD2 has been sneezing more and I even heard her cough a couple of times. We have a pedi appointment on Friday so unless it gets worse I just figured I'd wait it out.

She had a low grade fever. I called the nurse line, and they told me to take her to the ER immediately. The concern was newborns shouldn't get sick, and they don't have the immune system to fight it off. I was also sick, and they thought she just had what I had. But, they still took no chances. They also wanted to rule out menegitis and sepsis. They treated her with antibiotics as a precaution against sepsis, and she was well enough to go home 5 days later. Scary stuff to not even make it out of triage at the ER. They took her temp and then the peds staff just came in and took her off to NICU.

Wow. Sounds like your hospital is on top of things. How high did her temp go for you? DD2 had a 99.5 temp and the pedi told me not I worry until 100.4. Right now she's just sneezy and coughed a couple of times which could just still be her clearing things out from birth. I'll definitely keep a close eye on her. It's going to be hard for her because DD1 brings everything home from daycare.
