GRADUATES ARE WELCOME AND ENCOURAGED TO POST!

    **Ticker Warning**

Its official--I'm pregnant!  Beta #1 of 306, which is just awesome.  This whole donor egg thing really works! Wink

QOTW:  I was fortunate enough to live in Atlanta where RBA is located, so I didn't have to travel anywhere.  But DH and I seriously considered going overseas for a cheaper DE alternative; some of the clinics can be excellent.  If RBA wasn't here we might have done it.

Me: 34, DH: 35 DX: DOR (FSH 14.9, AMH 0.67, AFC ~10) and Egg Quality

Congrats to all with recent positive betas!!  Hugs to those who need one.  Good luck to those cycling or getting ready to cycle.

I have my ultrasound on 5/30 and if my lining is 8+ we will head out to Atlanta on 6/3 and on 6/4 will thaw and fert!

We tried a clinic here in Houston and had horrible results with frozen DE so we are travelling to RBA (Houston to Atlanta)...RBA is one of the best in the country and this is it, our hail mary, so we wanted to go somewhere that had excellent stats so we wouldnt second guess ourselves if it does not work out for us.

I am AMA and all tests on H came back normal
3 failed IVF with OE and 2 failed frozen DE cycles
Last fresh hail mary DE cycle starting Feb 2013
    PAIF/SAIF always welcome

Update: Baby M is doing great.  I think she gets more delightful by the day.

QOTW: We travelled to CCRM in Colorado for IVF with my OE just because I knew we would be a hard case and I wanted to go straight for the big shots.  Our cycle there was a complete failure which made it easier to make the decision to move forward with DE.

Cycling at Shady Grove for DE was one of the best decisions we made.  We were very pleased with their shared risk/split cycle program.  Our first cycle was unsuccessful due to a problem on my DH's side that was more severe than we knew about before.  So we were able to move right into our second cycle with the same donor also using donor sperm, and that was our successful cycle.

We did an eSET since we were in the shared risk program and felt like we didn't have to take the risk of transferring 2 embryos at once since we would have more options if that cycle was not successful (although the embryo we transferred was very high quality, and their statistics show that in that case transferring 2 only very minimally increases your chances of success).

TTC with DOR, low morphology, fertilization issues
    IVF#1 Oct 2009 (CCRM) - BFN
    IVF#2 March 2010 - Poor response/cancelled

  • Congrats to sekura!

Fx for a doubling beta, RFPsbride.

may2806, I saw your update last week, and have been curious how you made out with asking them to freeze all embryos.

Good luck everyone cycling, and hugs to those who need them.

Status: Chugging along on Lupron - feeling like AF is on her way, which would be about right. Start Delestrogen on Memorial Day.

QOTW: We are sort of traveling - no overnights, but 6+ hour drives for an appointment, depending on NYC traffic. And, I'm doing my monitoring locally. It's an added layer of stress for me worrying about timing and communication between clinics, but it's manageable. DH really didn't want to add air travel to the mix. I was willing to, but am not sorry I don't have to worry about flights and hotels right now. I'm also happy that I can be in my own bed the night of transfer.

Can we have a QOTW re: how DH/SOs have handled the stress of a DE cycle? I'm just curious.

Status Update: Where are you currently with the DE/DEmbryo/
    GC process?
I had an u/s and blood work this morning for my mock eep and everything looked awesome.  Lining was 12 and tri and estrogen was all good.  This was the last thing on our check list.  We are hoping to get our password to the donor database soon and pick our donor in the next few days!

QOTW: What are your thoughts about travelling out of town for a DE/DEmbryo/GC cycle?  We are lucky that we live across the street from one of Shady Grove's offices in NoVA.  I know that they have a many patients who travel here for DE cycles.

Status Update: Where are you currently with the DE/DEmbryo/
    GC process?
Well, after hearing that I they do not think I have an egg quality issue and not knowing what is causing my 9 early miscarriages,  my husband and I have decided to pursue looking for a gestational carrier.  We are looking into finding a known carrier first and if we are unsuccessful there, then we will look into an agency.  We are just in the beginning of our search, but we hope that this could be the answer to our problems.

QOTW: What are your thoughts about travelling out of town for a DE/DEmbryo/GC cycle?

I would be willing to travel if I thought the doctor or practice was reputable.

After 1 IUI, 3 IVF's with CGH/CCS testing, 10 early miscarriages, and lots of tears and frustration, we are moving on to Domestic Infant Adoption!  We are so excited to see what the future holds.

  • Update: had my first growth scan today. No problem with my fibroid, but baby girl's abdomen was measuring in the 83rd percentile and it could be a sign of GD on my part, so I'm going to go do my 2nd glucose test tmrw instead of waiting until next week; I hope to God I pass and she's just healthily growing!

QOTW: I did travel -- to Shady Grove -- and it was great for me, but my mother lives in MD on the metro line and so I could stay at her house, which made it much more relaxed.  But I would have traveled anyway to be able to do their shared-risk program; no such option where I live and we couldn't have taken the financial risk otherwise. My local RE was very accommodating and cheerful about monitoring me around the two trips there (once for mock transfer etc), once for the ET.  It definitely was worth it to fly via Southwest since I had to change the ticket once when ET was pushed by a day.

  • Congrats to Sekura! Sending doubling vibes to RFPbride.

I am still on BCP. We also started making travel accomodations.

QOTW: I am travelling for our cycle from NH to San Diego. I am all for travelling if it means you are in great hands! None of the clinics in New Englad had what I was looking for in terms of an inhouse donor program and stats.

    Pregnancy Ticker
  • Congrats to those that had good news. Hugs to those that need them. Fingers crossed for those waiting.

QOTD: if I didn't have confidence in my clinic I would have looked into traveling to cycle.

Update: J is talking up a storm and has just started string 2 and 3 words together. It is so much fun hearing all his new words. I start a new job next week. I am making my first move in a really long time. The downside is it will be in the office 5 days a week so I will lose some alone time with J but I keep reminding myself how much he enjoys daycare.

  • We are in the second week of Lupron shots....I'm trying to stay positive and trying to be excited but that's not easy....tomorrow is actually monitoring day. Ugh...

QOTW: Im not sure if we would travel because since I cant pysically carry a baby and my sister is doing all the work, I'm not sure I would want to tax her anymore than I already am.

    Good luck to everyone!!

My Wonderful Sister is my GC!!!! 3 IUIs, 2 unmedicated, 1 50mg of Clomid = All BFNs Next step IVF!!!! Melinda & Michael 5*6*06 God Bless The Broken Road

    CONGRATS!!! Such awesome news! Party!!!

  • Status Update: Where are you currently with the DE/DEmbryo/
    GC process?

First Lupron shot tonight! Tongue Tied Bring on the fog!

QOTW: What are your thoughts about travelling out of town for a DE/DEmbryo/GC cycle?

I most definitely would, I considered RBA, but decided to do a fresh cycle. We were lucky enough to have one of the top DE places in the country two hours away, so there we are!

    Hugs to everyone this week!

Congrats to the recent BFPs!  Good luck to everyone in the 2WW.

Update: The girls are doing great and get more and more fun every day.

QOTW: We lived in Atlanta and used RBA for our IVF with OE so it was an easy choice but I certainly would have considered traveling.  You are already spending so much money, it's worth finding the right clinic.  I also lament when I see people waiting so long to find a donor match when you can hop on a plane to Atlanta and start right away.

  • Sorry that I'm real late to this weeks check in.  Congrats to the recent BFPs and GL to everyone in 2ww.

Update-We have put DE on hold until Fall.  We were originally hoping for a July cycle, but we are just not comfortable with the financial details.  We decided to apply for a grant in July with BabyQuest.  Don't think our chances are too good, as I have a much older child and the application states that first time parents are favored in the application process-but we feel like we should try before taking on major debt to move forward with DE.  Hoping to win the lotto too, but know that that is not likely.  Clock is ticking loudly, with my 43rd Birthday behind me.  Have decided that it will happen in 2012, or not at all.

QOTW-We did check into Shady Grove's shared risk program, but decided that travelling is just not for us.  My son does not know that we are TTC, we haven't shared just because we don't know if we will be successful-and we feel like this is our thing to fret over, and we don't want it to become his.  Kind of hard to be out of town without giving reason for doing so.  We have Advanced Fertility in Chicago area that has an 80% success when 2 embries transferred.

Anyone heard from Bubs lately?, was looking for an update on how she's doing....as it seems things had a rocky start with her PG.

TTC since 10/09 Me-43 DH-44 RE and testing 10/10-11/10, Recommending IVF 1/11 New RE AMA and DOR-DH low motility IVF #1.1 cancelled 3/11 due to poor response IVF #1.2 May 2011, one perfect 8-cell embryo, 3dt-BFN, IVF #2.1 Converted to IUI d/t poor response. • Status is that we put the deposit down on the donor, a shared cycle 2nd recipient.

Travel out of town for DE? We have a 4 year old, we have no family in our area so we would not travel out of town. Fortunately the RE had a donor around.

I have been on the facebook page more than here. Best wishes to all and hugs to all!

I have a question, How many are doing DE or DS for a second child and a first was no infertility problems?
