Oh, yes she did!!!! I lost 8lbs at the beginning of my pregnancy and gained 3 of them back at my appt today (still down 5lbs from pre-pregnancy weight) and she commented, "Ohhh, you've gained a few pounds. Well, that's not too bad." Then, after she listens to the heartbeat, she said, "At least we know there is a baby in there and it's not just fat!" Seriously??? I'm not overweight at all. I have never been overweight. I'm stressing so much about gaining weight because I know how impossible it is to control in your pregnancy and how hard it is to get off after and this lady has the nerve to say that??? You'd think being an OB/GYN she'd have a little more tact/class.

Re: My OB called me fat.
It sounds like your OB was just trying to make a joke, not really call you fat, but she should know better than to use that kind of joke with a pregnant woman.
One of the midwives in the group I see is a weight nazi. At my first appointment we were discussing wt gain and she asked how much I gained last time (35 pounds, which is within the recommended 25-35) then she said "well it would be better if you gained 25 this time." Whatever lady. I'm a healthy weight, I eat healthy, and exercise. I had a great labor last time and pushed for only 30 minutes. I'm not going to worry!
I agree with PP, it sounds like a joke to me. But, I don't blame you for being annoyed! Unless you're so overweight that it's harmful to you or your baby's health, she should probably keep her mouth shut!! What was your response to her comment?
EXACTLY!!! HAHAHAHAHA
This! I would have slapped her. Or at least thought about it strongly!
Yea...bad call on your OB's part! But try not too stress too much about your weight. Remember that stress is one factor that causes people to gain weight. Just try to focus on being healthy and staying active. You know our babes are worth the extra weight and pudge for awhile
