Team Green to Team Blue

Bryce Thomas was born last Tuesday, May 15th.  I started out the day going for a long walk to try and get some contractions started.  While out for my walk, I stopped to go to the bathroom and had a large green mucus clot in my underwear.  All of the other clots that I had passed were either clear or old bloody brown.  So, I called the doctor just to ask about it.  While I was on the phone with the nurse, she asked about the baby's movement.  I told her that the baby had been moving a lot less than usual the last few days, but I had attributed that to the fact that the baby was too big to move much anymore.  The nurse wanted me to come in immediately for an NST (even though I had just had one two days before, and had one scheduled for the next day).

My dad and I left immediately from our walk and went straight to the office.  While hooked up to the NST, the baby's heartrate didn't accelerate nor did the baby move for a half an hour, which is completely different than all of my other NST results.  This alarmed the doctor and she said I wouldn't be going home and would be admitted for an induction.

While my doctor was calling to get a room prepared for me, the baby started moving and reacting all over the place.  At this point the doctor changed her mind and said she didn't want to put me through an induction and thought the baby was just fine.  She had me stay on the NST for 2 more hours just to be sure.  During that two hours, the baby never settled back down to a baseline heartbeat.  Since I had a high risk pregnancy, my doctor changed her mind again and said she didn't feel comfortable sending me home when I would probably have to be induced in a few more days anyway ( I was already 5 days over due).

I started the induction on Monday, and almost exactly 24 hours later I had my baby boy!  He weighed 7 pounds and 11 ounces and was 20 inches long. Everything went well and without any complications.  DH and I are overwhelmed, but totally in love!
