We have been doing purees with LO since about 4 1/2 months and she loves it. We are not really doing BLW but I want to include some regular food and see how she does. I gave her some toast this weekend and she did really well with it. My question is - is it OK to put butter on it? I did butter the toast without thinking about it because it keeps the toast softer, but I wonder if this is off limits because it is made of milk. Sorry if this is a totally dumb question.
Re: Stupid BLW question
Oh, I love the idea of banana on toast, maybe it won't be quite as messy
I don't see what's wrong with a little butter.
You can give them dairy products, just not milk. DD has had yogurt and cheese.
I don't put butter on every piece of bread he has, but every now and then I will use some unsalted butter. Again, babies are supposed to have more fat than you and I. Butter is not a great fat for them to have (saturated fat and all that) but I think it's probably fine every once in a while.
Other things I'll put on bread/toast/rice cakes are:
hummus
yogurt
cottage cheese
chopped liver
I actually put a little bit of peanut butter on DD's toast the other day. (I'm not worried about food allergies).
You can also try avocado or hummus. And I think no matter what... it is going to be messy!
Me too, but if he's eating some sort of puree, I'll put that on top of the toast, and cut it into cute little triangles.
