DD has gotten in the habit of waking quite early. She formally used to
sleep until 7-7:30 (she does sttn) but over the last month or so has
been waking anywhere from 5-6am. When she used to sleep later, she
would wake ready to go and would NOT fall asleep in the car on the way
to daycare. Now, she wakes and can not get herself back to sleep (this
am, I went in and rocked her and she did fall asleep on my shoulder but
as soon as I put her down she woke), additionally, she now typically
rubs her eyes within 1/2 of being up and falls asleep on the way to
daycare (I've read that means they are not getting enough sleep). We
moved her bedtime forward from 7:40 to 7:20 (I read that can help) a few
weeks ago. She does have blackout blinds in her room. I really feel
that she is getting up too early (the eye rubbing, becoming fussy
earlier than she used to, falling asleep in the car, etc). Anyone
successfully transition away from the early wakeup/conquer the early
wakeup?
Re: XP: Conquering the early wakeup...
This. DD used to wake up too early until I instigated a hard and fast rule not to go in to get her before 6:00 in the morning (and now that she's an hour later, I don't go in before 7). She'll still often wakes up early, but if I ignore her (she maybe groans a little or babbles but doesn't cry) she goes back to sleep until 7:30 to 8.
