Poll: Ivf costs

Inspired by my way too expensive oop pharmacy bill - curiosity has me wondering what others are paying for ivf.

1. How much are you paying for ivf  (excluding meds)? Are you on a multicycle plan?

2. If you're on a multicycle plan, what's the single cycle cost at your clinic?

3. Where is your clinic? (city, state or region, whatever location you're comfortable with disclosing)

4. How much are your meds? Feel free to share your dosages or protocol.

    1. How much are you paying for ivf  (excluding meds)? Are you on a multicycle plan?

We are on a cost sharing program, so I don't know the cost w/o meds, but total we are paying $18K.  That covers basically everything associated with the IVF process.  So, for our $18K we get 3 fresh cycles, and as many FET as is feasible in 1 year.  If we have not achieved a pregnancy at that time, we get a 70% refund.

    2. If you're on a multicycle plan, what's the single cycle cost at your clinic? A single would run between 11-12K for us.  The multi cycle runs $18K (just barely making the cut off, the cost jumps to $22K at age 36--which I will be in August).

    3. Where is your clinic? (city, state or region, whatever location you're comfortable with disclosing)  Clive, Iowa

    4. How much are your meds? Feel free to share your dosages or protocol.   Again, don't know.  I can estimate based on conversations with my RE they would have been between 4-5K if doing it separately.  I'm going to be on a "normal Lupron" protocol.  Like many others, we are also OOP.

    3. Akron, OH

    4. I spent $1050 OOP ($760 for 10 vials Menopur, $196 for 6 vials PIO, and cheap stuff) after getting a lot free from Compassionate Care. I have a lot left over this cycle and I'm getting more from donations, so I am hoping not to spend much this cycle either.

    1. How much are you paying for ivf  (excluding meds)? Are you on a multicycle plan? We're doing a 1 + 1 (1 fresh, 1 FET).  Cost is $11,600.

    2. If you're on a multicycle plan, what's the single cycle cost at your clinic? Single at our clinic with ICSI, which we need, is about $10,500.  For the extra $1K, it was worth going up to the 1+1 plan.

    3. Where is your clinic? (city, state or region, whatever location you're comfortable with disclosing) Madison, WI

    4. How much are your meds? Feel free to share your dosages or protocol.  We paid about $3500 for 1800 IU Follistim (I was on 150IU/day), 11 days of Menopur (75 IU each), 7 days Ganirelex, HCG trigger, progesterone, and antibiotic.  We got cancelled on day 6, so I'm not sure how much I really would have used, but RE is having me order enough to replenish everything for next cycle.

    1) We bought a 3 fresh 3 frozen multi-cycle plan with 100% back if we don't have a take home baby. For this we paid over 27k (includes ICSI and assisted hatching) the cost is also due to my age (36).

    2) For my age range it is about 12k for a fresh cycle (with ICSI and assisted hatching).

    3) Minneapolis, Minnesota

    4) Last time it was around $3000. I expect about the same this time as I'm not on Lupron (which was 20 days long or so) but Ganirelix is about $100 a shot, I think and I'll need about 5 of those also my Menopur dosage went up.

Also I've been very lucky and had free donated meds through friends.

  • 1. How much are you paying for ivf  (excluding meds)? Are you on a multicycle plan? 11,275 for IVF, 2500 for ICSI, 500 for assisted hatching, 600 for anesthesiologist. (which I am doing all the above) It is the 1 plus 1 frozen plan.

    2. If you're on a multicycle plan, what's the single cycle cost at your clinic? I did the single (or rather 1 plus 1 plan. It was through ARC & actually cheaper to do it this way than through my RE) ) There were many option to choose from. The next plan up would only save me 3K if I chose it & needed to use it. I would rather take the chance & pay for each cycle at a time.

    3. Where is your clinic? (city, state or region, whatever location you're comfortable with disclosing) Northern NJ.

    4. How much are your meds? Feel free to share your dosages or protocol.   I am on the antagonist protocol.

    2. If you're on a multicycle plan, what's the single cycle cost at your clinic? The cost is $7,935 for the RE, IVF lab & anesthesia fees. If I need ICSI it will be $1,780 extra. Cryo is $760 for 1 yr of storage. Assisted Hatching is $600 & PGD is $1,780. FX that I won't need ICSI, AH or PGD!!

    3. Where is your clinic? (city, state or region, whatever location you're comfortable with disclosing) Fort Worth, TX

    4. How much are your meds? Feel free to share your dosages or protocol.  I think my meds will end up costing about $5,800. (4500 IU Follistim, 1500 IU Menopur, 1 Ovidrel, 3 boxes Vivelle dots & 30 Crinone applicators.) Thankfully I had all of my Ganirelix and 1 box of Vivelle dots donated, which saved me about $600. So far I've only ordered the Follistim & Menopur to give my credit card a break. I'll order the rest at the end of this week.

  • 1. How much are you paying for ivf  (excluding meds)? Are you on a multicycle plan?

Insurance pays 50% for 3 fresh cycles, so it costs us ~ $3000 each try.  Frozen we pay fully, but it's still very affordable and way less than a fresh cycle. We're doing our first frozen now, but I think it's going to be about $1,200 (including freezing and storage fees).

    2. If you're on a multicycle plan, what's the single cycle cost at your clinic? see above.

    3. Where is your clinic? (city, state or region, whatever location you're comfortable with disclosing) in Europe with public insurance

    4. How much are your meds? Feel free to share your dosages or protocol.  I've done antagonist twice and meds were roughly $900.

We're going to use our cycles here with insurance and then likely become medical refugees and find a place we'd like to move with decent IF coverage.

We did the mulitcycle for 10,000 to the dr and he will do it four times without re charging.  Also i had to pay 3,500$ to cover the lab fees and icsi. That price you have to pay per try. Plus $ meds.

    1. How much are you paying for ivf  (excluding meds)? Are you on a multicycle plan? Single cycle.  $8k which includes the anasthesia.  I recieved a small state grant.

    2. If you're on a multicycle plan, what's the single cycle cost at your clinic? I think the full cost is about $12k

    3. Where is your clinic? (city, state or region, whatever location you're comfortable with disclosing) Long Island

    4. How much are your meds? Feel free to share your dosages or protocol.  I was extremely fortunate to get my meds through my clinics donation program.  Otherwise, I believe the cost would have been between $3-$5k

    1. How much are you paying for ivf  (excluding meds)? Are you on a multicycle plan?  Fresh cycle single about $1500-$2000... Frozen cycle around $600-800 after $500 deductible is met.  Once I reach $1500 out of pocket for monitoring appointments, insurance pays 100% (of US/Labs)

    2. If you're on a multicycle plan, what's the single cycle cost at your clinic?

    3. Where is your clinic? (city, state or region, whatever location you're comfortable with disclosing)  Chicago,IL

    4. How much are your meds? Feel free to share your dosages or protocol.  I order meds through a mail-order.  Most were a $20 copay, I think Menopur may have been a $30 copay.  Total I spend $220 for my first cycle of drugs

Exactly! That is why I chose not to do it. My multi cycle wasn't a refund program, so it didn't really help me. The refund one was crazy expensive $30 something grand & that was w/o the ICSI/assisted hatching/cyro, etc which I would need.

We also paid $1000 diagnosing and removing the septum in my uterus, which was actually covered under insurance. No insurance coverage for IVF or IVF meds.

    1. How much are you paying for ivf  (excluding meds)? Are you on a multicycle plan?  We are doing one cycle with a shared donor 1:3 and our clinic fee is $13,300

    2. If you're on a multicycle plan, what's the single cycle cost at your clinic?  One cycle, oop, using your own eggs is $13,500.

    3. Where is your clinic? (city, state or region, whatever location you're comfortable with disclosing)  D.C. Metro area - Shady Grove Fertility

    4. How much are your meds?   I haven't ordered the meds for the real cycle yet, but I paid $87 for the del estrogen for the mock EEP.  My insurance covers the bcp and provera at no cost to me.  My other meds will be Lupron and PIO (covered at $0 co-pay).  I'm going to guess that it will be a couple of hundred dollars for the lupron.  Feel free to share your dosages or protocol.

  • 1. How much are you paying for ivf  (excluding meds)? Are you on a multicycle plan?

It's about $12,000 for the IVF cycle, $2,000 for ICSI, $7,000 for the PGD and biopsy costs, $3,000 for all of the baseline testing.  With meds, we're at nearly $28,000 for just one cycle - I'd love to be able to do a multi-cycle package for that price!

  • 1. How much are you paying for ivf  (excluding meds)? Are you on a multicycle plan?

We are paying $7600 for one cycle with ICSI. Our multi-cycle plan would have cost $16,500 for 3 rounds of IVF in two years (but only one live birth)

    2. If you're on a multicycle plan, what's the single cycle cost at your clinic?

$6,000 for a single cycle without ICSI, $1500 to add it on...

    3. Where is your clinic? (city, state or region, whatever location you're comfortable with disclosing)

    Ontario, Canada!

    4. How much are your meds? Feel free to share your dosages or protocol.

My RE told me that my meds would have been around $4,000, but I have total coverage for them through my work benefit plan so all I pay is $1.00 per prescription. I'm going to be using Go.nal F , Cetro.tide... Not sure of the dosages just yet..

  • 1. How much are you paying for ivf  (excluding meds)? Are you on a multicycle plan? On a shared risk plan it was just over 19K with ICSI with $1085 additonal for monitoring. Included 3 fresh and 3 frozen, anesthesia for ER, one year free of frozen storage.  If it doesn't work we get 100% of the money back.

    2. If you're on a multicycle plan, what's the single cycle cost at your clinic? One cycle was around 9K and the same 1085 monitoring fee.

    3. Where is your clinic? (city, state or region, whatever location you're comfortable with disclosing) Michigan

    4. How much are your meds? Feel free to share your dosages or protocol.  Mine was around $200 with insurance. (gonal f, lupron, menopur, valium, antibiotics for both me and DH forgot name, hydrocodine, endometrin and one other pill before bed after ER can't remember name either list is at home.

TTC since 2008, our little miracle arrived July 2013!
