Friday I left work early to do the kids' party at school. When we got home, the kids opened the rest of their gifts and then we went to the Japanese Steakhouse with some friends and my dad who was in town.

Saturday the kids were up at 5:40am because they were so excited. But we had to be up and out of the house early to pick up my father from the hotel (his car wouldn't start), get the cakes, and be at Chuck E. Cheese by 9:15. The 9:30am Chuck E. Cheese party was awesome. We had the entire place virtually to ourselves (I bet there were only 10 other people in there.) All of the parents raved about it and the kids had a fabulous time. Score! After, we went to the grocery store to get stuff for dinner and then home for naps for the adults and a movie for the kids. Played outside and then grilled steaks and ate on the deck. Played the new board game with the kids after my dad went back to the hotel.

Sunday we had promised the kids to take them to get the 3DS that they had saved for since the fall. We walked/rode new scooters over to Panera for breakfast and then to Target, who was out of the game systems. Went to another Target and bought them and then to Costco to pick up some stuff. Home for some resting/playing the new games and then to the playground and park for some soccer/Frisbee playing with the kids. It was GORGEOUS out. Cooked dinner, drove my dad back to the hotel, and came home and crashed.

Our weekend was a little weird, because as soon as I wrote our weekend plans, C called to say she got a positive OPK, two days sooner than expected.  So on Friday afternoon she got in the car and drove to our donor's house and inseminated that evening.

Saturday morning I volunteered while C and our donor drove back here (he was already planning to visit Saturday-Tuesday).  We hung out for a while, inseminated again, then C cooked dinner while I did the remaining grocery shopping and tried and failed to pick my contacts up from Target.  We all ate dinner together, then KD went off to meet up with some friends and C and I had a quiet evening at home.

Sunday KD went off to meet more friends, while C and I hung out at home.  We got into a stupid discussion which turned into a stupid fight.  Bleh.  C and KD went to a museum while I stayed home and napped/read.  Then we tried to make a baby again and went out to dinner.

  • Our weekend wasn't the best.  We took J's family to a park on Saturday and they ended up leaving 20 minutes after we got there, J was upset and instead of telling them how she felt, she shut down and then was a jerk to me.  We argued and ignored each other.  On the way home we scored a set of bunkbeds for $20 at a yardsale.  We made a run to Home Depot for spray paint and finished the night by watching TV.

Sunday started with a fight and some nasty namecalling by one of us.  I got to work sanding one of the bunks and then painting it, it still needs more paint but it's already looking really cute.  I worked out and then took the kids outside to play.  I grilled for dinner, chicken, corn, and brown rice for the kids and vegan burgers for me.  Baths after dinner, a story, then bedtime for the kids.  This is when I remembered that the adoption SW was coming in the morning!  I went into cleaning mode and got the kitchen spotless and most of the livingroom clean.  J and I watched some news and went to bed.

I did get to talk to J about how overwhelmed I am and she agreed to help so we will see how that goes.

  • Fri: Home to clean. Ky's antibiotic (she has a double ear infection and pink eye...thanks teething and allergies) made her BM like water so I had to consult the urgent care pedi that prescribed it. She prescribed a new antibiotic and eye cream. Since we were going to the pharmacy for that I decided we might as well go grocery shopping. It was like shopping with a time bomb though...I never knew if I was going to make it home without her diaper exploding...

Sat: Got up early and swept/mopped before taking DW's car to get an oil change. Had lunch at my mom's work. By the itme we got home it was time for Ky to take a nap. I swept and wiped out DW's car, mowed, and planted flowers/weeded while she napped. By the time I got done she was waking up. Our friend C was staying voer to watch Ky while DW and I went out. We had a nice date but it was cut WAY too short because DW was tired. I was pretty upset because we have been fighting a lot lately and I really wanted time to talk and she managed to stay out until after midnight with her friends on Friday but could not even manage 2 hours with me.

Sun: Mad at DW pretty much sums up the morning. Her parents dropped off a twin bed for Ky. We all went to a birthday party for DW's Uncle's son (I guess DW's cousin?). He got a slip and side (he just turned 5) so i ran home and grabbed Ky's suit and swim diapers and dry clothes for DW who joined in the squirt gun fights. We got home late and Ky napped while we talked it out. We went and got ice cream and assembled previously mentioned bed. Ky was SUPER excited and proud of her big girl bed UNTIL it was time to actualyl sleep in it. She ended up in the crib for the night. We ate pizza and went to bed too late.

Friday:  Was my last day at work for a while. My midwife and EV had an "intervention" of sorts with me at our Thursday evening appointment because I've been struggling with severe sciatica and sacroliliac pain for the last couple of weeks that despite Chiropractic, etc. is not getting better. My midwife put me on bedrest/leave a few weeks earlier than planned. Needless to say Friday was hectic going into work and wrapping things up in 8 hours.

Saturday: EV and I slept late and went out for breakfast/lunch.  We then drove around shopping for patio furniture. Eventually having success at Cost Plus.  That afternoon was low key with EV finishing projects for a couple classes she's taking and me packing.

Sunday: More homework/packing. In the evening we went to babysit for a friends 9 year old daughter and hung out with our friend when she got back for a couple of hours.  One of the funniest thing M (the 9 year old said) was "You two are like one person in two bodies".  LOL.  I guess thats what 13 years+ gets you.  I love the things kids say - makes me excited for our little bean to get here.

  • We had a good and super busy weekend.

Saturday morning I got up early and went jogging with Daisy (to starbucks, lol!) then the girls and I hung out while DW and Sprout had a t-ball game.  When they got back we all went to a foster family festival.  It was a beautiful, though hot, day and the kids had a good time doing sand art and getting their faces painted. Then we played at the playscape for a while and grabbed dinner and ice cream.  Hit another playscape on the way home, fed some ducks, and tucked completely exhausted kids into bed at 6:30.  The sitter came over and DW and I went to my friend's 30th bday party and got home pretty late.

Sunday morning Sprout and DW went fishing with her dad while I took the girls out to breakfast and then to dance class. The kids had a short nap and we drove up to my alma mater (UCONN).  We walked around campus, visited with all the animals (they have a huge farming program and the barns are open to visitors).  The kids LOVED it.  We saw 30+ horses, sheep, a bunch of cows, watched cows being milked, and the highlight were all the calves and foals - I didn't even think of the time of year when we decided to go, but there was an abundance of baby animals everywhere we looked :)  Then we visited the locally-famous UCONN dairy bar for fresh churned ice cream.  We had to wait in a long line to get it and I was very flattered by all the compliments we got from strangers on how nicely the children were waiting in line.  It was such a wonderful trip. We had a groupon to use so we stopped for pizza on the way home and again tucked 3 exhausted kids into bed.

  • We had Friday off from work, and flew Friday afternoon to my parents' city.  My mom picked us up at the airport, and we spent the evening hanging out with my parents and visiting a favorite restaurant from childhood.  It's funny to me how restaurants that were once special occasion places are now fine for normal visits - I guess my presence is a special occasion now??

Saturday morning we borrowed my parents' car and drove about 2 hours away to meet DW's family.  DW tried on a bridesmaid dress for SIL's wedding, we picked up lunch for the family to eat at the hotel, and then we went to youngest SIL's college graduation.  It was in the mid-90's and crazy humid.  Graduates only got 3 tickets to the in-person ceremony, so DW, myself, and middle SIL's fiance ended up in the overflow video screening room.  At first we were annoyed about this because we traveled so far, but we got a/c and seats with backs!!  Score.  We went out to dinner and spent the evening hanging out with DW's family.

Sunday morning we had breakfast with them, drove back to my parents', and spent lunch/afternoon with them.  Then they drove us to the airport and we flew home.  Public transportation home took about 8 years.

So, basically, we packed an entire vacation with both sides of the family (families that live 6 hours driving apart) into 48 hours.  Yikes.

  • Friday: Started with finishing up our Spring deep cleaning.  Got cleaned up and walked downtown to try a new Mediterranean restaurant with our 2 year old.  It was supper yummy! Came home, rested, and waited for DD to get home from school so we could all swim.  Made the promised stuffed bell peppers for dinner and watched a movie.

Saturday: Walked to the Farmer's Market and on the way home remembered the Preakness was running in a few hours.  DW was working that night, so she stayed home with the kids and I went with a neighbor and met my mom and grandma at the Satellite Race Track to place a bet.  We are not huge betting people, but do enjoy the big horse races or going to the track during the fair to play some.  Good news is we picked the winner, bad news, we should have won on a different bet that was placed but my lovely wife wrote down the wrong number with the correct horse name.  My mom placed the same bet, $6, and won almost $130..... oh well! ha ha

Sunday: DW came home in time for breakfast and played with the kids before heading to bed.  I had a lazy day.  A friend came over to visit, then I took the kids swimming.  Made the kiddo's homemade mac n' cheese, and DW and I had these yummy cobb like salads for dinner before she headed to work.

  • Friday: I met a work friend and her girlfriend for drinks and pizza. Afterwards we hung out at their house for a bit. Home to bed for an early Sat. morning appt.

Saturday: I had to take my car in for one of those mileage service appts. I walked from the service place to a nearby store to run an errand and then got lunch at a favorite old school deli spot. The service finished earlier than they had predicted and it was off to errands for me. To target for various party items, etc. Then to costco and then home. I needed to mow since it's going to rain all.week.long. so I got that done and worked on pulling a few weeds and cleaning up some yard waste the previous owners left behind. Then I prepped the goodie bags for E's party.

Sunday: Up early to make dinosaur shaped sandwiches for E's party at a bouncy place! The party was great and E had a really good time, we had 14 kids there. Afterwards I got groceries for the week, did laundry and worked on a few things around the house.

Friday-  Came home from work, took a power nap, and then went out to our local gay dive bar.  DW and a friend of ours had a few too many beers so myself and my bff had to handle our slightly drunk significant others.  It was funny and a very good time.  It is hopefully the last few drinks DW will have for the next year or so.

Saturday-  DW was chaperoning Prom and had a lot of prep to do.  She left with her "date" around 5 so I went for a drive with our dog, grabbed some dinner, and hit up the Red Box.  I watched movies DW would hate and fell asleep on the couch waiting for her to come home.

Sunday-  A fantastic but busy day.  We went to Annapolis to Barnes and Noble to stock up for our summer off, had some frozen yogurt at our favorite place (Menchies...super excited they are opening one 10 minutes from our house tomorrow).  We met my mom and granny for dinner, then hit the grocery store.  It was a nice day to be driving around, we got a ton done, and really just had a great time being together.

We had three BFN in the Fall of 2011. It is back on to some baby making come June. Swim little fellas, SWIM!!!!

  • The first weekend with all three kids in one house was a busy success!

Yup, three kids is more work than two ;)

Friday--they got home from their visit at 7:30.  Super excited.  Took baths, read stories. Went to bed.  Well, started bedtime about 9 (later than usual, but it's an unusual weekend.)  4 year old Carrot finally stopped the antics & tantruming and went to sleep by 11:30.  Moved a sleeping Zucchini from our bed to their room. So sweet.

Saturday--Made breakfast together, took the girls to the mall to get special outfits.  Didn't go quite as well as I thought.  I have been shopping with each one separately, there is definitely a different dynamic when they are together!  But, we got outfits, and then came home for the highlight of the weekend--SWIMMING!  Neither one has been very much, but took to it like adventruous fish!

Ate dinner, watched a movie, (I think we liked the Muppet Movie more than they did :) , went to bed.  Down to a half-hour bedtime. Big improvement.

Sun--played outside. We'll work on that. Carrot hasn't done much playing outside. Ate breakfast on the patio, made a craft for their mom's birthday (super cute picture frame), then went to have sibling pics taken at the mall.  They loved it.

**And, because there is never a dull moment around here--my parents are on a road trip across the country, and my gram fell and broke her OTHER hip.  From 6 months ago. So, I am trying to do more for her, so my mom can stay and enjoy her vacation.

Tonight: Visit Gram. Bring requested burgers & shakes. Go home. Drink wine.
