Hitting herself in the head?

Lucy has been doing this lately.  She has her molars coming in.  Maybe that's why?  Anyone else have a LO that does this?  Any ideas as to what this could be?  Thanks!

BFP 6.9.13|heartbeat of 128bpm 7weeks|7.23.13 ultrasound revealed no heartbeat|natural m/c and d&c 7.25.13

    Is she running a fever or anything else?  Liam would hit himself in the head whenever he had ear infections :(

    It could be teething. I also read in my 'What to Expect' book just yesterday about this. I think a desire to recreate the rocking sensation from when they were younger could be another possiblity. Do you have that book? It gave quite a few for reasons for it. Sorry, I can't remember any others right now!

    How is she hitting her head??  Does she use her hand or a toy or is she actually banging it on things?

    I only ask because my boys have been doing this a lot lately & I've wondered the same thing. They don't hit themselves though, they bang their head on everything. They will bang it on the back door window, the fridge, the floor, my leg, my back, whatever. I always tell them no, but it's like they like it because they will stop & smile at me, but then just keep doing it!!

    DD has banged her head against the wall a couple of times recently (purposely, it looked like!) and I was wondering what that was all about as well. She looked at me afterward and smiled and giggled, which was bizarre. I don't know what it's all about yet b/c I can only recall her doing it twice.

    My LO, too. In fact, patting her head really helps put her to sleep.

    Hmm...ok.  She's def doing it on purpose, but not gently like patting. She is hitting herself pretty hard and it's usually in combination with pulling on her face/ears.  It's not an ear infection b/c we just had her at the doctor last week and the ears were fine.  I have a hunch it's the molars coming in.  I hope they come in before this baby arrives!
