June 2011 Moms

AW: My first babywearing meeting with our local group.

I was asked by my local babywearers leader if I could take over for her... since it wasn't very active and we didn't have a lot of members and she was busy. I agreed and started doing some 'promoting' in the area and also made an announcement at the Great Diaper Change Event. The group has been literally booming! I couldn't be happier! On Saturday we had our first meeting. My DH is calling me a 'community leader' now haha... I feel very social lately and it makes me happy. We are planning a trip to the 2012 International Babywearing Conference at Washington, DC at the end of June.

I'm on the far left explaining chest belt variations for double hammock carry.  I am thinking about going to get my certification in babywearing... still thinking about it.

  • How exciting. I went to my first local meeting this weekend to try out wrapping! Now I just have to buy a wrap!

  • How neat. A friend of mine is trying to get me to go to her local babywearers' meeting. It's somewhat of a drive for me. I'm considering it but am a little apprehensive and not sure why. Just shy I guess. And afraid of ending up with carrier envy, lol.

It is a great place to try different carriers and see what you like and dislike. Instead of buying and not liking it. You should go. I am glad I went out to try to meet new people because most of all my friends don't have children and it was very depressing for me.

  • how awesome! yay for growth!
  • That's fantastic. You should do it!  There should be more of these groups too!  I was at Hershey Park this weekend and saw a couple getting their gang of kids out of the car.  She had an infant in a front carrier (wrap) and she leaned over to get another kid in the stroller - the baby almost fell out.  I could only think of the person that posted about her friend's baby that fell out the same way and had a brain bleed.  I probably could have benefited too - I didn't baby wear with either of my kids. Tried it, researched it and even consulted a friend who wore - still wears her kids.  I am just to scared because I still don't feel like they're secure enough.
