I go in tomorrow for my glucose test. Passed with my last two pregnancies. This time, however, my OB says to eat as I normally would any other day. My appt isn't until 3:40 in the afternoon so I'll be eating breakfast, lunch and snacks. I seem to remember having to fast with my last two, years ago.
So, I am wondering, how many of you ate/will eat normally, and how many of you fasted/will fast.

I was told to cut out heavy, sugary things the day before and then fast right before appt for breakfast (other than water). My appt was a Monday at 8:15AM.
I passed with flying colors.
This. I go Wednesday at 3:30.

This but my instruction sheet says 2 hours before
I was told to not fast for my 1-hour test but to avoid high-carb/high-sugar foods before my test (my OB only does them in the morning). So they said no cereal, toast, juice etc. for breakfast.
I failed my 1-hour. Now I have to follow a 2000 calorie diabetic diet for 3 days and go in fasting Thursday morning for my 3-hour test. I am already hungry and cranky from this diet, I hope I pass my 3-hour.
Okay- here is the scoop. They will give you different amounts and or different levels of the sugary drink (or whatever they use) according to your diet and their clinic's procedures.
Ex: You will have less of the sugary drink to take if you fast. More if you are not fasting. Each doc knows what formula that need need to give their patients to receive that correct testing results.

They told me to fast for 2hrs
For the 1-hour test: My OB said to eat nothing at least 4 hours prior to my test. And to avoid any sugary foods the day of and day before (candy, juice, doughnuts, etc). Other than that, eat normally.
For the 3-hour: My OB said to eat nothing after 9pm the night before (so complete fasting) since my test is at 9am. She also said to switch to a "diabetic" diet for the 3 days prior to my test (complex carbs/whole grains, no white starches, no juice/candy/sugary foods, add fat-free milk, and increase water, raw veggies and fruits).

More Green For Less Green
Just had my one-hour test last week and because my doctor's instructions said, "All patients should have a normal breakfast or lunch, but should limit sugar intake (pancakes, candy, soda, etc., should not be eaten," I ended up having an interesting conversation with the technician who took my blood.
Basically, she asked me if I had fasted. I told her no, told her what my doctor's instructions had been, and that I had only eaten a stick of cheese that I made sure had no carbs and no sugars because my best friend had warned me that she'd wound up in the three-hour test with her first pregnancy because she'd had something that wasn't sugary at all and would otherwise seem harmless (sorry, I can't remember what she said it was). Then the technician said, "Years ago it used to be that you had to fast before taking this test. I don't know why doctors have switched to telling women to eat beforehand. It does make a difference."
Mine was in the afternoon like yours so fasting would have been a no go.
I was told to eat a lighter lunch with no white carbs (bread, pasta, rice). I ended up having a small salad with some chicken and veggies.
For the one hour -
Nurse told me to eat per usual.
Lab Tech told me I would probably fail cuz I had followed nurses directions. I'd even eaten something better than I usually would.
I failed.
