Favorite Outdoor Toys

Please recommend!

We have a water table, a FP ride on toy, a swing and an adirondack chair (lol, does this count?) at my in laws' (in SC). Needless to say, there isn't much outdoor space at our place but I could invade my parents' place this Summer! She has a trike and wagon at our place.

I was thinking a sand table (too old?), but would like some other recommendations.

Re: Favorite Outdoor Toys

  • Right now Joshua is happy just havig a ball to play with.  He will throw or roll one for the longest time.  We go to the neighborhood playground to play on the swings because we do not have much yard space. A sand table would probably be good - I am thinking of getting one becuase LO will try to go play in the cat litter when we turn our heads.  I think he would like scooping the sand.

  • You made me laugh this morning, because I have been trying to come up with ideas for my LO this last month. It has been so nice and I was just going to post this same thing.

Anyways we have a fire pit..... definately appropriate for a 16 month old right?!...

I have a swing so I'm working on putting together a wood frame for it. I hope I can finish it this week. I also want to get some lumber to build a sandbox. I have to work on some plans for this though, because I'm not sure what to do for the cover yet.

I might get a slide (little tyke style) in June if my sister is done with it for awhile, not sure if she'll be willing to part with it yet though.

Also she might be getting a strider bike in June. My niece refuses to ride it because it's orange not pink or purple. She's so funny.

  • I was wondering if a slide is age appropriate (the small little tikes) too.
  • We have a water table, pool, push lawn mower, and I just got a kitchen at a yard sale that hasn't made it inside so I guess it's a garage toy for now!  I'm looking for a sandbox, she loves digging and shoveling sand!

Honestly DD plays with everything but her toys!

  • DS has a water table with squirty bath toys, a giant ball, a bucket with shovels and sifters, a little tikes slide that I bought used for $25 and he LOVES it!  We also have a strider bike and a radio flyer bumper car that he likes a lot too. Last night he really liked playing in the dirt while we planted flowers so I'm sure he'd love a sand table/box.

  • If storage weren't an issue, I'd buy her a cozy coupe. It's so buggy here I hate to buy toys knowing they will sit outside with spiders building nests inside of them. We were going to get a kiddie pool, but I just can't get past my paranoia. Sorry, I'm no help.

  • We have a cozy coupe, water table, kids pool, a bunch of ride on toys, and once I finally stop stalling we're getting swings/slide installed....I need to get a move on that one! We haven't spent much time outside yet though so I'm not sure which of these will be his favs or what else we'll end up getting!
I also want to get him a picnic table.
