Arm's Reach Co-Sleeper question

Hi everyone,

My LO is 12 weeks and has been sleeping in the ARCS since day 1.  At about 8 weeks he began rolling (scooting, rather) into the side of the cosleeper.  He's continued this pattern which in turn causes him to wake up every 2 hours or so because he is smooshed up against the side.  Has anyone else had this issue?  I hate to move him to his crib so soon but I feel like he will sleep better if he has more room. Any thoughts?

Re: Arm's Reach Co-Sleeper question

  • Are you sure he isn't waking up every 2 hours because he is a baby and that seems to be what they do? Smile

DS was in the arms reach until 5 months. He always liked to be smushed against the side. He really didn't seem to mind it. You could always try the crib a night or two to see if it helps? But I have found that where DS sleeps doesn't really matter. He has times where he sleeps well and times where he sleeps poorly.

  • Haha, maybe!  But, I do find that he sleeps well until he moves himself into the side of the cosleeper and then it's automatic wake up! He always scoots to my side so I think he's just trying to be closer to mama :)

  • My son scoots around wherever he is till he faceplants into something! He likes to sleep squished up against the side too. He doesnt wake up tho.

  • My son sleeps in a king sized bed with me and still manages to end out with his face in the wall or rail.

  • My son does this too! But his favorite place to nap is on a boppy on my lap with his nose in my belly, so I assume he's just snuggling up to it. He doesn't wake up when it happens anymore (he sleeps about 7 hours at night).

  • Is he always scooting toward you?  My baby did this from day one, and would try to get as close to me as possible.  Once she ran out of cosleeper (15 minutes, tops) she would wake up and cry, so we ended up bedsharing and that solved the problem for the first 8 weeks.  Now, she sleeps in her crib (already, I know) but she seems to sleep a lot better there than in our bed, suddenly.  She still hates the cosleeper so we put it away.

I actually think she A) needed to be closer to me at first (like, PLASTERED against me) and B) didn't like the co-sleeper mattress.  I wouldn't blame her.  It's crazy lumpy!
