So we're trying to work on narrowing down the name list, and I want some feedback on these. We have our DD (age 3) who's name is Lillian Elizabeth. I love the more traditional and classic names over the more trendy names (except, apparently, William -- but that's a family name and in no way influenced by trends!
). Here is the (shortened) list. What do you think? Oh, also, our last name starts with a "w" and ends with "ler". ;D
Charles Christopher = nn Charlie
Jude Christopher
William Christopher = nn would be Will
Remington Christopher = nn would be Remy
Grayson Christopher = nn would be Gray*
* Note: Our DD actually came up with "Grayson" -- she was trying to say "celebration" but it came out sounding like Grayson to us and we thought she was talking to us about the baby at the time. Still, we both looked at each other and thought it was cute. Also, the middle name is set in stone if it's a boy. Christopher was the name of my older brother who died of acute lung failure last year (he was a double lung transplant patient). I want to honor him because of everything he went through in his short 29 years of living on this Earth.

Now onto girls:
Charlotte Ruth or Charlotte Ivy
Eleanor Rose or Eleanor Geneva*
Alice Rose or Alice Geneva*
Lucy Eleanor or Lucy Alice
* Geneva is my DH's granny's name. She died last year, and she was an important woman in his life. I thought having her name as a middle name would make him (and his family) proud. ![]()
Re: Possible names for baby #2
I really like William Christopher.
I love the significance of Geneva, but I don't think it really flows well with Eleanor or Alice. Have you considered Geneva as the first name? Some nn options could be Eva, Evie or Ginny.
Of the options you have, I think Eleanor Rose sounds the best. (FWIW, I think Geneva Rose would be adorable).
No, no, no. No disrespect toward William -- that's my dad's name, actually (and my DH's middle name). It is classic and timeless, but I also get a little down when I see names I love/want to use in the top 10. Especially when it's in the top 5 in our State.
Charles is pretty much our go to name since it's also my DH's first name -- we would just be changing the middle name so it's not entirely "junior" like. I love the nn Charlie and always have, but I wanted to try other names to see if they worked too.
As for Geneva...I never thought of the nn's for it. I always thought it was pretty, but kind of "old lady" in some ways. I might have to look back into it as a possible first name.
Thank you guys so much for your input! It's really helping me sort through all of this.
Charles Christopher is my favorite, followed by Jude Christopher. I'm just not a fan of Remington at all.
Of the girls, I like Eleanor, Alice, and Lucy with Geneva.
Charles Christopher = nn Charlie
William Christopher = nn would be Will
Eleanor Rose
Alice Rose
Boys: Jude Christopher or Remington Christopher. I like Remy for a NN.
Girls: I really like Geneva, I like Lucy Geneva or Charlotte Geneva
Charles Christopher - not a fan of alliteration, but a nice name
Jude Christopher - Absolutely LOVE
William Christopher - nice, classic name
Remington Christopher - hate Remington (reminds me of a beard trimmer and a gun)
Grayson Christopher - Grayson is quite trendy, I am not a fan
Now onto girls:
Charlotte Ruth - pretty
Charlotte Ivy - pretty
Eleanor Rose - love
Eleanor Geneva - really, really love
Alice Rose - pretty
Alice Geneva - very pretty
Lucy Eleanor - love
Lucy Alice - like
Lillian & Charles
Lillian Elizabeth and Alice Geneva
I like all the names except Remington (too violent) and Grayson (too dull)
I would probably avoid Eleanor and Lucy because they sound similar to your older daughter's names. Especially Lily and Lucy, way too matchy for me.
You definitely have a thing for Ls!
Charles Christopher = nn Charlie - like
Jude Christopher - like
William Christopher = nn would be Will - this is a fine name just NMS
Remington Christopher = nn would be Remy - I prefer just Remy, Remington (while legitimate) makes me think of the gun.
Grayson Christopher = nn would be Gray* - like
Charlotte Ivy - love
Eleanor Geneva* - love
Alice Geneva* - like
Lucy Eleanor - least favorite

Oh no! m21megs, I really hope that he pulls through okay! It is really heart wrenching when I hear of other families going through things like this, especially with someone so young. Sending love to your family in these hard times!
I suppose I am going with the trend, chibride4. I meant the trendy "syns" and "lyns" and the like. I forgot the "old lady" names were becoming popular again.
I mean, I mostly like classic/traditional names but I have my moments where I find a more modern one (like Grayson) that I like.
